I posted this in another thread, but it's more suited here.

I think Benavidez vs Morrell could be a great fight. But Benavidez deserves his shot at Canelo and the belts. And it's long past due for Canelo to defend his belts against a legitimate opponent in his weight class.

          Morrell would destroy Benavidez.

They believed in Benavidez just like they believed in Gilberto Ramirez, both oversized downhill runners. Benavidez train is amplified because they put Andrade in a shoebox for 1.2 million when DAZN was paying 7-10million for heavyweight-size ring fights which would have favored Andrade's movement (pure boxer(obviously haymon wasn't going to do him any favors)). Once again boxer promoters playing Jedi mind tricks on them. An elite combo boxer-puncher will expose Benavidez too. It is going to be a joke when Canelo is tagging him with counters and he has to think about coming forward. He is going to look silly and awkward just like Gilberto in the Bivol fight.

I don`t know, both are unbeaten contenders in the same division. 50-50 fight for me. So what if Morrel is 10-0? he is still top 5 guy in division.

I think Morell has the boxing ability and the power to trouble Benavidez, but honestly DB's ring IQ is underestimated by some just because his style isn't pretty to look at (doesn't have the most mobile footwork and squares up), the guy nearly has 30 professional fights debuting at 16 years old, has championship experience since he was 21 (Gavril X2, Lemiux, Angulo, Dirrell, Plant and Andrade), and during that time he was sparring the best professional boxers at respective divisions during their time even before debuting (Pavlik, GGG, Bivol and etc).

Even without his punch combinations, his precision is on point to the point he battered both defensive slick fighters in Plant and Andrade by cutting the ring, comfortably switched stances, worked the body and loaded on his shots once they became more of a stationary target. If he fights Morrell, he has the tools to deal with whatever Morrell brings. It doesn't mean he wins, but DB isn't a limited fighter as made out to be.
