Comments Thread For: Bill Haney: Devin Is No. 1 P4P; How Much Credit Can We Give Crawford For [Spence] Fight?

Bill Haney is obviously biased, but he believes his son cemented himself Saturday night as the best boxer, pound-for-pound, in the sport. Devin Haney was so dominant in defeating a two-time 140-pound champion who had lost only a majority decision to an

You got a gift against lomo, beat an old flat footed cherry-picked “champion” in prograis, and ducked Stevenson. You’re son’s not p4p Billy boy.

          Why? No lies were detected.

“No other fighter has done what Devin has done,” Bill Haney said during the post-fight press conference. “Crossing the pond to become undisputed [against Kambosos in Australia]. Coming up to another division and fighting the hard-hitting, arguably no one, you know, the boogeyman no one wanted to fight. He’s the number one fighter right now, pound-for-pound. And it’s no slight towards Terence Crawford’s performance. But if Errol Spence was depleted and he has go up to ’54, how much f------ credit can we give him for that fight?”
If Errol can’t make 147, he was depleted.

If Errol can make 147, what’s the holdup?

If Errol needs more time to make weight, Crawford could have fought Boots.

Why is it that every time one of these fighters get a PPV bout they are labeled the "face of boxing" and/or p4p #1...... What p4p fighter has Devin Haney fought? Don't try to say Loma because he had been bounce out of most rankings after his loss to Teofimo. Devin Haney was in NOBODY'S top5 and very rarely did we see him in a top 10 discussion, now after him beating Regis Prograis he's p4p #1? Are you serious?

He bounced out of the 35 division without facing the other talented up and comers mentioned throughout the last years with his name. How are we throwing his status above the likes of Canelo & Crawford who has been argued as top 3 for half a decade and just dominated another top 5 opponent just a few months ago.

Cong**** to Devin but seriously.....fans and media need to stop being prisoners of the moment.

It seems like Bill Haney is trying too hard to turn people's praise for Haney into indifference. As much as rate Haney highly but there's no way he's #1 P4P.

To be completely honest, as bad as Errol got beat up, that version of Errol is still much better than this weekends version of Regis lol Errol landed almost 3 times the amount of punches on Bud as Regis landed on Devin

And, "crossing the pond" and beating one of the weakest champs at that time in Kambosas doesn't move the needle in the P4P rankings. Bill is just living through his son and being extra annoying right now

Haney Sr. has a point--Spence looked bad vs Crawford. But Prograis looked bad against Haney too, so . . . We will see what's next--hopefully Teofimo, Ryan, Tank, Shakur, etc.

Ok Haney def a P4P fighter ..but don't know about that #1 claim. Personally I rate both Crawford and Naoya above Devin...and I think im not the only one here.
