He made a smart decision of getting out before they started gaining attention, so no he didn't really duck them, he didn't wait for them is the more correct statement, which is fair.

Berbetiev was still fighting in Canada, active only once a year getting paid 100k a fight and Bivol was getting paid a little bit less fighting on undercards not even as the co-main event. Why would a guy on the verge of retirement that just beat the P4P #2 fighter in the world fight either guy that brings zero financial attraction to a fight at the end of his career?

It’s also telling that Berbetiev & Bivol haven’t fought each other after 7 years of Ward retiring. But Ward (according to Ward critics) ducked them both, Jesus.

This argument is as bad as Bud ‘ducking’ Boots, even if he were to retire right now.

Also Beterbiev turned down Kovalev fight twice, clearly his handlers weren’t confident. which pretty much defeats the entire argument.
      Difference:

People including media DID call for Crawford to fight Boots, and Crawford directly declined. Which is a duck.

You are correct that nobody was calling for Ward to fight either guy.

Kovalev aside, you still haven't addressed the issue of Gvozdyk and Stevenson. I said they were the other boogiemen of the division, and Ward wanted nothing to do with them.

First, Kovalev is not "my guy." I have much more in common with Ward than I do Kovalev. I actually like Ward more than Kovalev.

Second, after this response, it's clear that Ward is your guy, and that given the opportunity, you'd bend over for him. I think that's now clear.

Third, Ward has a "W" on his record, but you can tell that he doesn't believe he won because he loses his **** every time someone reminds him that people believe he lost to Kovalev. It's done a mind job on him, and you know who he has to blame? Tony Weeks for taking away a legitimate win from him, or what could have been a legitimate win. Actually, he can blame Tony Weeks and his manager, J. Prince, for writing that massive check that says "Pay To The Order Of Tony Weeks" with a Memo note that says "throwing fight." Tony Weeks is that guy you send in to stop a fight prematurely. That's his specialty.

Because, of course, we all know that it's his tendency to stop a fight when someone is injured

And last, the fact that you lack any integrity to call foul when a foul occurred, when a man is robbed, because it's more important to you to have glizzy lips from Ward's sausage. You should be ashamed of yourself.

You really need to try and let things go man, it’s immature and frankly pathetic. You’re still crying about Loma-Haney, still crying about Ward-Kovalev I and II, probably still crying about Canelo-GGG too. Grow up man.

It's kind of funny that you're the one whining and complaining and you say that I am. I only brought up Tony Weeks and how his unscrupulous refereeing benefited Ward, and that's a fact. Everything I said are facts, but your couchie gets all tight and uptight, and you call it bitching and whining. Whenever a fanboy starts calling simple statements of fact "bitching" and "whining," then I know I got him.

It's really funny how many fanboys can't handle the truth. I'm telling you that I'm not a fan of Kovalev, but you keep saying that I am as if that somehow discredits what I'm saying. Ward did not beat Kovalev, not according to the rules of the sport. He lost and got a gift the first fight, and he didn't beat Koavalev in the second fight because Weeks prematurely stopped the fight to Ward's benefit. Those are simple facts. I provided you incontrovertible evidence, so this is why you resort to name calling. It's because I just bodied you in front of everyone. (By the way, I'm still waiting for you to show me a fight where a ref immediately stops a fight from a body blow without even doing a 10 count.)

And just to remind you what I was talking about in the first place, Ward would have lost to Bivol and Beterbiev. Bivol and Beterbiev would have beat Kovalev (assuming they fought him after Ward had fought him). Ward was incapable of beating Kovalev without either corrupt judges or corrupt referees, so it's pretty clear that the obvious conclusion is that he would have lost to Bivol and Beterbiev. That's the point. It has nothing to do with Kovalev, at least not directly.

Like I said, it's funny how a fanboy like yourself gets so emotional when he has to confront the truth about his favorite boxer.

Are we discussing Ward or Canelo, I’m extremely confused. Not once did anyone think, comment or believe the P4P #2 Kovalev was declining.. that’s revisionist history at best, so I’ll just laugh. Everyone thought Kov was going to obliterate Ward, before BOTH fights.
Ward was a slight favorite going into the first fight.

No you’re the one whining and complaining, writing essays about a fight that happened over 6 years ago. Let it go dude, it’s just straight up embarrassing.

I don’t pay attention to ‘people’ that say it was a ‘duck’ - I’d rather listen to the boxing analysts, fighters & historians, rather than some guys sat on them armchair that are just salty Ward critics.

Ward attempted to retire after the 1st Kovalev fight, aside from that.. hey I’m sure he ducked two virtually unknown guys that were getting paid 100k a fight! whatever suits your thin ‘argument’ LOL.

I’m wondering if you hold the same consistency for a guy like Golovkin? Supposedly he ducked an unknown fighter like Falcao and vacated? Or ducked 41 year Erislandy Lara when he vacated the 2nd belt?
Sure, Golovkin retiring at 42 is the same thing as Ward retiring at 33.

                      - - Kov had Wart fans in tears the first fight.

Wart had Ref Weeks in his pocket and he punches in Kov protector the 2nd fight.

Wart may have the best shoe collection next to Imelda Marcos though his pupil Plant is closing in fast.
