He’s trying to get to the point where David can no longer make the weight.

But this is going to be a big stain on canelos legacy. Imagine accomplishing everything he has and then mostly being remembered for ducking Benavidez.

Sorry. I thought you meant Hearn.

I think Canelo wins too but you can’t deny Benevides has earned the opportunity.

For sure, he is actually the only opponent at 168 capable of potentially dethroning Canelo

Maybe Nell isn't 100% yet and wants to wait? But benavides might be getting better too, but that's beyond nelos control. Main thing is Nell is ready.
              So benavides should be patient

I agree this doesn't look great and I will be disappointed if Canelo - Benavidez isn't next.

However, OP is a Benavidez fanboy and I am not sure it is "the biggest most in demand fight in the sport".

Maybe people should relax a bit and wait until his next fight is actually announced. Getting agitated on forums changes nothing either way.

He won't be mostly remembered for that though, only by internet obsessives. I want to see this fight next, but most people just don't care enough. That's the reality.

It doesn't have to be the literal biggest most in demand fight in the sport but it is for Canelo. That's really the one fight people are interested in seeing Canelo take next and there's really no good excuse as to why it shouldn't be next.

And it's definitely one of the top most in demand in fights in the sport, no doubt.

I'm pretty neutral but it's evident to me that Canelo doesn't seem to fancy that fight for whatever reason and I think only a staunch Canelo fanboy would deny that Canelo is looking very unsure about his willingness to fight Benavidez.

It is Benavidez's choice to weight drain himself, in order to be the big man.

Alvarez is the Undisputed 168 pound Champion, he does not have to jump at a fight 'Just because Benavidez says so'.

Benavidez for me really is a borderline cruiser weight fighter naturally. Therefore he is operating in the same way that Toney Bellew was when he was at 175 pounds.

Note: I believe that potentially, it is only a matter of time before ? Benavidez will no longer be able to continue to weight drain himself and perform at 168 pounds, and that will be completely his own fault 'Not Canelo Alvarez's'.

Stylistically I don't think it is a bad fight for Alvarez, not in the way people seem to perceive it as 'Benavdiez defense is not great, his skill level is not elite and he is quite static' Just being super aggressive and being able to put your punches together, stylistically has never been a style of fighting which has been the greatest challenge for Alvarez.

Elite level: Movement, Speed, Distance control, Long range game, Endurance 'Those have been the attribute's in a fighter, which have really been the greatest challenge to overcome for Alvarez' Benevidez has not really shown thus-far in his career, a high enough performance level in all of those area's.

The fight will be a great event, and a competitive fight 'Benavidez has the attributes to make the fight competitive, but not to win rounds consistently or nullify Alvarez'.

When Bernard Hopkins signed to fight Kelly Pavlik, to the general public 'The match up looked like a monumentally daunting challenge for Hopkins to win'.

But anyone who has watched Hopkins entire career, and knew what type of fighter he was 'Could see that stylistically, Pavlik was potentially in a lot of trouble'.

I see this same dynamic in the Benavidez vs Alvarez match up 'Long as Alvarez is in solid condition, I would not be surprised if he does not drop a single round to Benavidez' etc.
