Comments Thread For: Amanda Serrano: The WBC Refused To Evolve The Sport For Equality; So, I am Relinquishing Their Title

Amanda Serrano has sacrificed most of her personal life to achieve all that she has in her record-setting pro career. One more sacrifice was made for the sake of furthering the sport she has made her own personal admission to uplift. The Puerto Rican southpaw made the bold decision to vacate her WBC featherweight title. The decision to disrupt her

While I admire her tenacity and dedication so far she’s the only female fighter I hear demanding 3 minutes rounds, she needs to take her colleagues into consideration and hear their input, rather than assume they all want what she wants, yes she’s a great champion, but she has to respect the fact that she doesn’t speak for all female fighters.

When she decided to become a professional boxer she knew the rules. You don't become world champion then set policy, is she going to refuse other organisations as I don't see this changing in other organisations. She might be cutting her nose off to spite her face. Amanda please remember no fighter is bigger than the sport, after you retire boxing remains. I don't see women tennis players demanding 5 set matches in grand slams like the men. You requested it, but it was denied now get on with it.

She can do whatever she wants.

I don’t watch loads of women’s boxing but I’ve seen all the big names and even though Serrano “lost” to Taylor, she has impressed me the most, by far. She’s the p4p #1 imo. If Floyd had wanted to do 2 minute rounds he would have and absolutely no one would have told him otherwise.

Wish more fighters had her “balls” to trash titles in protest.

The point is 3 out of 4 orgs have accepted those terms.
                She's already became undisputed.
If she wants to drop the one remaining org in protest,
                then I say go ahead.
While no athlete is above their sport,
elite athletes historically can use their status to protest.
Amanda Serrano is the next elite athlete to do so.

Good for her. Wish more people would drop belts and do what's right for the sport.
