they should change it to an 8 count and start waving fights off at 7. it would be better for the sport. maybe just get rid of the count altogether and wave it off once someone gets knocked down

Oh please. I was rooting for Garcia, and saw this stoppage as dirty. Duarte was hurt, but he wasn't comatose. Duarte was stunned and went down. He wasn't knocked down cold. This was probably the first time he went down in his career. Therefore, he probably didn't have experience in the area of the count. He got up on 10 or just before it. Had he wanted the fight stopped, he would've gotten up after 10. This referee was well aware that Duarte most likely wanted to continue. I was. Duarte, while hurt, was aware enough of the count. The referee looked to save Garcia, and he did. Referees are supposed to be neutral. But this referee's stoppage was invested in his gain.....if you asked me $$$.

The fact that he got up or tried at 9 says it all if , according to you he’s was ok
What about the fact that when he got up he stumbled forward ?
Is that a sign of being ok ?
I honestly didn’t give two fughs who’s won but Duarte was far from being ok
And as usual , the day after the fight it’s the usual bullchit that I was up , what’s the problem
These guys know what the case is getting up at nine
You can’t even say that he didn’t hear or see cause that ref was as close as possible to be , right in his face
I can’t see how this was a bad or dirty stoppage
Personally , I think that was the only thing that the ref did which was not bias towards Garcia

Didn't Tyson Fury get up at 9 3/4's???

I can't remember but how much time was left in the round? Maybe that was why he stopped it.

I hope everyone in here screaming "Why wait until 9" (which I agree with btw) weren't the same people saying the ref screwed over Dubois when he got up at 9.75

The Mexi-Khan, couldn't make 140, started running and holding after the 5 th round against a smaller, limited Duarte who couldn't cut off the ring for shiat. There is no future for him. They will feed him fake Romero next and then it's over.
