Comments Thread For: WBO Head Disagrees With WBA's New Weight Class: 'Sometimes Prescriptions are Worse Than The Disease'

Apparently at least one sanctioning body has no desire to follow the latest trend. The WBA announced Wednesday that it had ratified the creation of a new weight class, the "super cruiserweight" division, which ranges from 200 to 224 pounds. According to a statement, the decision was made to shore up the severe weight

Creating a more even playing field would definitely be worst. For weight-bullies.

This would sound sexier if they just called the new weight classes heavyweight and super heavyweight.

Just change Heavyweight to 230 lbs and then add a Super Heavyweight class at 260 lbs. Problem solved.

And if Boxing needs another class above Super Heavyweight, set the weight at 290 lb.

      Heavyweight - 230 lbs
      Super Heavyweight - 260 lbs
Ultraweight or Megaweight - 290 lbs
      Maximumweight - Unlimited

Speaking of diseases, the WBO’s cozy relationship with Top Rank is a cancer on the sport that also damages the image of boxing.

          Yes I agree.

          Heavyweight change to 230 lbs.
Super Heavyweight set to 260 lbs.

          That will fix everything overnight.

I hope you guys are joking?

The elite heavyweights will jump to the perceived best division anyway. Similar to Wilder and Usyk having no interest in the newly created division.

Boxing historians would go crazy if you changed the heavyweight name .

They have no interest because they succeeded at Heavyweight .

Ironically it was Wilder saying Fury cheated bc he put on so much weight and complained boxing needs a cut off limit after his last Fury loss . Lol

No, not joking. Boxing desperately needs these weight classes so it's fair for the smaller Heavyweights.

The name stays the same, the only thing that changes is the weight and I believe 230 lbs is the perfect benchmark.
