  • Comments Thread For: Memory Lane, 24 Hours a Day

By Cliff Rold - MLB, the NFL, and the NBA all have channels. Golf has a channel. Cricket? Tune in to Willow anytime (really, do...it's sort of mesmerizing if the game is otherwise unfamiliar). Boxing? In the US, boxing has had many outlets but never a 24-hour a day spot to go watch the fights. Considering some of the libraries out there, it's a shame. Part of the reason the legends of Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson have endured is their fights have never really left the rotation.

Hey, would love a Boxing channel. I mean they're thinking about things like a Pickleball channel. Sheessh, c'mon.

DAZN bought the rights to a bunch of old fights, I liked watching them in high quality.

Havent downloaded any fights in ages, that used to be a big thing before ******ing, so I havent added anything to my collection, its all older stuff.

Of course I cancelled DAZN when they became a rip off.

ESPN i believe has a huge collection of older stuff. At the rate that AI upscaling tech is getting it would be cool as hell for them to make all that available remastered/upscaled.

Problem with boxing is that the fights are "owned" by various different en******. They also mostly just sit on them and dont seem to be too interested in getting money out of replaying the content.

This. And there are different deals that were done. Sometimes the promoter only has library rights, and the broadcaster owns the content in perpetuity. Sometimes the broadcaster only has rebroadcast rights for a year, and then ownership reverts back to the promoter. There is also the issue of what mediums were used in different eras, and what is involved in converting them to digital formats. But it would be great if someone found an economic way to make all that content available........

yea it would be nice to have a channel that was not only boxing but not a hype job either just a channel that talked fights showed fights and tried to grow from there. Maybe one day but i doubt it bc there is no money in it unless some promotional company found a way to sell tickets or what not. Great idea most but not all pods turn out to be less then what they could have been. Imagine getting the big three in the same studio PBC Top Rank and Eddie boy in there to talk promo and fighters wonder who would get stabbed in the neck first ?

So Cliff,I checked it out and the problem is Tubi doesn’t let you pick what fight you want to watch. You have to follow their schedule. Thanks but no thanks.

That wasn't as widely available as this in the US.
