If you're talking about titles/accomplishment, Garcia is definitely beneath Teo. But Teo is driven by money right now. The only place Teo/Matias makes sense is in NYC. However, Matias has yet to establish a profile there and Teofimo isn't the big draw that he thinks. The match-up is great, but Teo would have to be reasonable. For Teo to get paid what he craves, it'll have to be on PPV. He got paid very well against Kambosos and it completely distorted his perception of what he's actually worth.

I don't know who would win but if they fight, before the fight if I hear Teo is going through a lot of mental issues, he will probably put on his best performance because that dude clearly handles things messed up around him to focus on Boxing and proves this over and over. That's a champion in my books. He doesn't take long mental vacations, he beats ass instead.Last edited by richardt; 11-27-2023, 03:47 PM.Comment

I was talking about accomplishments and not tik tok followers. That may have translated into money he two because they had a history of drama and Ryan wasn’t known as a quitter yet. I think post Tank, the buy in for Ryan is going to be less. I could be wrong because there are plenty of gullible fans out there, but I’m thinking the quit job hurt his marketability.
Teofimo should aim for the other titlists, but he shouldn't become inactive either.Comment

They'll work together when it makes sense for both.Comment

Not sure if that was the motive, because Ryan hasn't mentioned the offer at all. He's only talking about a Tank rematch. We wouldn't know an offer was even made if Teo didn't mention it.Comment

Lopez-Garcia would do decent PPV numbers because the pre-fight hype would be pretty interesting, lots of sh/t talking and good advertising from both sides.
If it’s true that Lopez was only offered $1.5m, then that is a major lowball. For such a fight, you gotta START at $5m.Comment

Offering someone a way lower purse than they should get for a fight of this magnitude is a way of saying you offered the fight while really not being interested in the fight actually happening.Comment

He actually didn't get paid a lot for Kambosos. The Trilller money fell through and Match Room's bid wasn't that much more than Top Rank's. Teo just over estimates his value. He's had two big wins and squandered the opportunity. Instead of fighting immediately he takes way too much time off and kills his momentum. Gotta give Haney credit for how he moves right now. After the Kambosos, repeated with him fairly quickly, built off that momentum to the Loma fight, even with the controversy he rather quickly went to the Regis fight. Even Ryan coming off a big loss is still riding the momentum off 1.5 mil PPV while it's hot.
He was paid a reported $3.1m against Kambosos, his highest purse so far. Getting paid more for a mandatory fight than for Loma/Taylor has distorted his self-worth. Teo doesn't realize that his inactivity is damaging his marquee value and negotiating power. He only fought once in 2020, once in 2021, twice in 2022, and once in 2023. I think Teo should get more than $1.5M for Ryan, but he needs to negotiate that. 1.5m Ryan would be the same as he got for Loma, and Loma actually got his purse reduced by $250K so Teo would accept.Last edited by kiaba360; 11-27-2023, 09:18 PM.Comment
