Basically, it's a small outfit down in Puerto Rico. https://www.facebook.com/freshboxing/
I think Matias is one of like three guys they promote.
Matchroom tried to sign him after he sparked Ponce, but apparently it didn't work out. (Good)
The only reason people thought he was signed to PBC is because he sometimes fights on PBC cards. But again as far as we know, he's never been signed fully to PBC.Comment

His last 6 fights have been under the PBC banner, so he's effectively a PBC fighter. Maybe Juan Orengo has some sort of agreement with SHO/PBC because his other boxers (Kevin Gonzalez, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Alfredo Santiago) also fight under the PBC banner. With the disappearance of SHOBOX, hopefully Team Matias is willing to move around. Matias vs. Teofimo at MSG on ESPN would be a great opportunity.
PBC is likely featuring him because they know he has a large following in PR.Comment

What blows my mind is that Matias hasn't fought in NYC yet. It's damn near a rite of passage for Boricua boxers, and it's typically a sign that the fighter is on their way to stardom. PBC hasn't made a concerted effort to build the profile of one of their most entertaining fighters. A Puerto-Rican slugger should be one of the easiest boxers to market. If HBO/Loeffler could build a Kazakh at MSG, then what the hell is stopping PBC from building Matias at MSG?Comment

I remember a while back someone was hyping up Ergashev saying it was a better fight than Lipinets. Even though Lipinets lost on the same card he still at least tried, meanwhile this guy quit on his stool and blamed his leg yet he was standing fine afterwards lmao.
Matias is a tank, his defense has improved he was rolling a lot of shots and catching them on the gloves. Any fight he's in is going to be a fun one, the only ones who can give him trouble are counter punchers with above average power.Comment

Matias/Teofimo unification makes the most sense, with Lebron and Xayas on the under-card. The problem is that Teo's purse will cost TR an arm and a leg...and may turn the event into a PPV.Comment

What I meant was I'd want to see him against Teofimo on the night of June 8, 2024, but any other top ten fighter in the 140 pound division will do as well.
The powers that be can't hold back Matias meteoric rise to superstardom, the fans will be clamoring to see this fighting dynamo on a regular basis.Comment

But I do suspect that Russell when he boxes - and he can box, could give Matias some problems, but if he trades with Matias because he is confident of his own power, that could be Russell's undoing. Upon further review, Russell would have to be in and out, side to side with flurries and pot shots to win. Not impossible, but I don't see that happening in my mind's eye.Comment
