  • Comments Thread For: David Benavidez-Demetrius Andrade: Stats and Stakes

By Cliff Rold - When he turned professional in 2008, just months removed from narrowly missing the medal round of the Olympics, it was easy to guess the sky was the limit for Demtrius Andrade. The 2007 World Amateur champion had size, style, speed, and skill. What could go wrong? When the bell rings on Saturday (Showtime PPV, 8 PM EST), the answer to that question won't matter anymore. Benavidez is 6'3". Boo-Boo is going to school him. Think Hopkins-Trinidad without the TKO.

Feel like Andrade's going to show his pedigree early on, it gets ugly in the mid-to-late rounds, and both fighters making adjustments late with the winner being the one who closes out strongest.

Looking forward a great night of fights. RIP Shobox.

Look about the same height to me, definitely no noticeable difference in arm length. People are going to be surprised. Andrade is not going to come out guns blazing. I think going to be center, angle and neutral a bit of his forward movement like Bivol did with Gilberto. Look for a 4-3 type fight going into the 8th with Andrade conserving his energy to finish strong. He ain't Sweet Plant. He'd smoke Plant in a match up. Andrade reminds me of Mike Love

Clown before the fight to throw you off.

When the bell rings...it's guns blazing

I think we are going to see why he made the Olympics.

Android is going to show how he wasted his time in the ring, why he did not ever take chances but kept his distance from fights that would have shown him what he is and is not. When he has taken fights even one's that were not real tough match ups or threat's he has never had the instinct to finish bc once again the chance of that was and is too much for him. So another PPV that is not worth the pay that it takes to view. But all the promo guy's have got to do is get people talking and they will think this is a fight that can not go without paying for n on that they have done there jobs.............They will make something unimportant sound important after the fight to not let people know what a waste this fight is as is the Android............

Maybe it shouldn't be PPV but it is the perfect stylistic match-up. Go talk to Al Haymon for not letting these guys move off of PBC. The DAZN exec said on ThaBoxingVoice with Nes that they offered these guys fights with Andrade when they were handing out money. 10 million to Charlo. Benavidez's dad is on video saying they need 7 million to fight Andrade on DAZN. Obviously, Haymon wasn't going to approve that. See Luis Ortiz.

Not relevant for all but for some like those of us how have watched Andrade since the amateurs.

With all the trash PPVs this year this one is worth my $80

I hope Andrade beats Benavidez and I expect him to but if he doesn't it's a shame he had so much natural talent and ability, decent strength and amazing athletic ability and it was squandered trying to make risk free money when the higher risk money would've paid off tenfold.
