A lot of guys either actually wait too long to cut weight, or claim they did, or have their fans claim they did. Who knows where the truth lies?

As for David Benavidez, I like him and his fighting style. But, I like a lot of fighters. I think Boo Boo is a good fighter too. And, at 168, I like Plant and others. I have my favorites for sure, but there aren't too many fighters I dislike, really. I just want to watch good, competitive fights (or at least what we think will be). As for the weight bully thing, I don't know. I guess I'll go with Breadman's thoughts on the matter that as long as you can make weight safely, why not? I think with David, he's primed to fight for the belts again at 168 and how long would it be until he got a crack at one of the belts at 175? So if he can stay at 168 that is best for his career.

Who do you think will expose David? Will it be someone at 175 or do you think somebody at 168?
Yes, David is a weight Bully. It's clear looking at his frame that he is a natural light heavyweight, but he's not the only fighter who's done the weight bully thing. I can name countless guys who've done it -- Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarita and Sean O'Grady are three from the past who come to mind.

I like Benavidez as a fighter, but he has horrible footwork and makes lots of mistakes. If Andrade keeps him turning and doesn't sit down in the phone booth with him, he will beat David. Boo-Boo has had minimal wear & tear in his career and is still very light on his feet. Working with his new team, he looks noticeably stronger in the arms and legs.

That's definitely the intrigue of this fight. Because Benavidez's fight against Plant showed he isn't good at cutting off the ring. And Andrade is more slick than Plant. Boo Boo has more punching power, too. But, maybe David has cleaned that up some. He certainly better have. And what will David's work rate do to Andrade. I'm looking forward to it.

Me too. Andrade has to keep the fight at his pace and not let David speed him up. Benavidez is a downhill fighter in Rounds 8-12, a major reason Canelo won't fight him. The key is to keep David turning and mix in early body shots.

Andrade is also good at keeping his length, lowering his body position when throwing (aside from just throwing from different angles), keeping his head off the line, etc. And I think he's better strength-wise on the inside than Caleb. And, of course, the southpaw stance is going to create some issues. David definitely needs to get going A LOT earlier than he did versus Plant because this will probably go to the scorecards.

I haven't seen it disclosed anywhere, but I imagine the ring will be 20x20. Certainly a smaller ring would benefit Benavidez, who is the A-side, but I'm sure he knows people would call him out for demanding a smaller ring. And, I think David is a dog and doesn't demand advantages like that.

Thomas Taylor is the referee for the fight, who I think is really good. He let's guys fight, doesn't put up with too much holding (benefit Benavidez), and doesn't stop fights too early. He deserves to get more high profile fights then he does. Most recently he did Barrios vs Ugas. He did a great job with that one.

I will research Taylor. I don't know much about him. For my money, Benji Esteves is the best ref today -- you hardly ever notice him.

I'm hoping for a normal ring. Andrade needs to land, turn David, keep using angles. His back should never touch the ropes. The Bivol fight is a perfect template. I think the game plan with Rozier will be excellent. The X factor will be stamina in 8-12.

Barrios did to Ugas what he was supposed to do to Ugas. Barrios should go after a Crowley or Santillan next.

I did a quick lookup of Benjy Esteves and, yeah I know that guy. He did a good job of correcting his initial call on Vianello vs Rice. It doesn't seem like he gets much work, though.

I'm surprised Barrios showed out as much as he did against Ugas. Ugas was there to be had, but Barrios was in his best form, working off the jab, and countering well. Santos coached him up good. And, yeah, he should definitely target Crowley or Santillan next versus trying to step to Boots right away. Another fight or two under Santos and at the weight - without long layoffs - will do him well. I think he beats Santillan, but Crowley will be a close fight.

Esteves in my opinion is by far the best in the sport. He plays no favorites, respects the fighters and never tries to be part of the show. The ref I detest the most is Steve Willis. He's a clown and his goofy facial expressions make me cringe. I believe he was the ref for GGG-Lemieux, a fight I saw live at MSG. A real goofball.

Yes, Barrios looked much better against Ugas than Thurman. He looked pathetic against Keef and bad no business looking that bad against a guy who'd been on the couch that long. I'm not sold on Crowley, but he has an undefeated record. Santillan did a number on Rocha. I always knew Rocha was a fraud. Speedy Ellis showed that.

I don't think I've seen Steve Willis referee in recent times. He used to be everywhere. While is facial expressions are crazy, I don't have a memory of him being bad. I don't like Tony Weeks. He used be good but the fatter he's gotten the worse he's gotten. He went off a cliff with allowing the low-blows and ending the fight in Ward-Kovalev II. And more recently Rolly Romero-Ismael Barroso. Disgraceful.

Crowley has no pop, but he's good defensively and he's strong. It'd be boxer vs puncher in that one. Santillan came out of nowhere, or at least for me. I hope we actually get Thurman vs Stanionis. I'm a fan of Keith's boxing (not his talking in the 3rd person) and think he'll win, but both it's kinda fair because both guys have been out so long.
