In a scale of 1-10 how would you scale his power in his prime? Who are some of the hardest punchers in the heavyweight division that you think he hits harder than them?

He’s probably an 8 on power .
Power and hitting hard are different.
His speed , accuracy and timing makes him at least a 9 on just hurting someone or ability to stun them , his natural punching with heavy hands at 220 on average or around and grinding into an opponent generates a power of probably 8 . When you combine power and abilities to make the punch harder with his listed skills he is one of the most dangerous punchers of all time .
The closest thing to Mikes way of punching is Joshua ,he’s also the closest thing to throwing combinations punches in bunches with power ,no one else is close as far as that goes .
Wilder is the consensus hardest hitting guy but I’m not buying it until he actually fights the better fighters ,he’s knocked out or stopped guys he should have and most of these guys would not be known as good fighters in Mikes day .
Power doesn’t lie but Joshua has the better stoppages and actually is boxing competently not waiting fir a single finishing blow or rushing across the ring trying to end the fight in one round . Mike Tyson could do both if he wanted .
In fact Lewis and Joshua share a similar trait both are about the same size and can hit you with very explosive punchers at over 240 pounds , Joshua’s technique is better and Lewis was better at angles with better leverage on his shots .
Then there’s Wlad Klitchko I’d say per punch is maybe the hardest hitting heavyweight I’ve seen if he lands correctly on you .
But when you add in speed , size , heavy hands , weight Joshua does the most damage I’ve seen when he gets the opportunity. That’s the only guy in recent years I would put in the same conversation as a Mike Tyson discussion of punching abilities both share common traits , obviously Mike was the sharper fighter at 220 and more elusive counter puncher with the better chin he could stay in the pocket better .
Wilder is an extension puncher needing to get guys at the end of his punch , if you compare that to a abilities to hurt someone with any range punch and still hurt them I don’t think Wilders is better . Most fighters have their one hand punch signature move , Mike Tyson and Joshua along with Foreman , Wlad , Lewis were versatile punchers . Mike Tyson’s left hook for instance was better then Frazier’s yet no one mentions him rarely bc Frazier is strictly known for it .
Many won’t like this post here bc it involves Joshua but that’s to bad bc everthing I said here is a fact . LolLast edited by juggernaut666; 11-11-2023, 10:10 AM. -

In terms of pure maximum force generation, Mike Tyson power is rated at 8.5/9 'Overall offensive capabilities 9.5'.
But what amplified his power even more was? The sophistication and range of his power.
Mike Tyson could alter the course of a fight, from a multitude of positions and with a vast variety of punches 'His range was also devastating whether it be from close range, mid-range to long range'.
There is no active Heavyweight who has the comparable offensive capabilities as Mike Tyson 'I have honestly in all weight divisions, not seen any fighter duplicate the level of sophistication of Mike Tyson's offense.
Anthony Joshua, Andy Ruiz Junior, Oleksandr Usyk are really the only heavyweights who can actually throw combinations with good technique 'Tyson Fury is game in putting his punches together, but? If you watch his fights, when he throws combinations he is all over the place. Fury quite simply fought very few fighters who would exploit his innately clumsy technique'.
Mike Tyson offense was also at the same time simultaneously his defense 'They were both integrated and synthesized into one moving entity. What I mean by this is? Mike Tyson had the ability switch between offense and defense so fast, it appeared to be almost simultaneous'.
A knock-out which displays this greatly in Mike Tyson's career, was his win over Frank Bruno II'.
Mike Tyson simultaneously, was operating within hundredths of a second switching between offense and defense 'In his attack which lead to Bruno being decked, and punched through the ropes' There are no fighters active today in boxing, in all weight classes who can operate at that kind of level offensively.
I would say Vasily Lomachenko has been the closest to duplicating this kind of synthesized simultaneous combination of offense and defense 'And also a peak Roy Jones Junior, and Joe Calzaghe'.
Most fighters are ether attacking or defending, and you can clearly see a distinct development from one mode of action to another 'Their fight capabilities are not as amalgamated as Vasily Lomachenko, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Junior, Joe Calzaghe'.
Even fighters like Floyd Mayweather Junior. Mayweather was not as fluid and simultaneous as Roy Jones Junior 'Mayweather always needed a period of time to reset himself and ether attack or defend'.
Mike Tyson was able to generate knock-out power vs Franics Botha 'By using a punch which only needed a limited amount of space to travel'.
Deontay Wilder for example does not really have that kind of range, and overall I don't think his offense is as devastating as Mike Tyson's 'Wilder should of really beaten Tyson Fury in their third fight, if Wilder would of had more range on his punches. And the ability to come straight down the middle, and throw straight punches Fury was there in that fight to be taken out'.
Note: So overall I rate Mike Tyson's power and overall offensive capabilities at 9.5 'There may have been better all round boxers than Mike Tyson since his retirement, but in the area of offense? The way Mike Tyson was able to amalgamate his offense and defense into one moving entity 'There has been no Heavyweight since Mike Tyson who have duplicated that level of sophistication'.
Some people like to **** on about these Super Heavyweights, but the level of sophistication skill for skill has regressed in the Heavyweight Game etc.

He hit real hard. I hate boxers not telling us how hard they hit. I mean why cant tyson tell us if he's ever been in ring with someone he thought hit harder than himself?Comment

I actually agree with all of this except for the wlad part as he wasn't as versatile with his power as the others mentioned
