Vitali vs Bowe

I did a post on this a while back, and I said it was a toss up then and I still stand by that. Bowe had an excellent jab, and is one of the few HW in the history of the sport I feel that can get on the inside of Vitali. Bowe is a very good inside fighter, a good technical boxer, and has a solid chin. Vitali has better footwork, a solid chin as well, and might be a slightly smarter fighter than Bowe.
With that said if I had to choose, I would say Vitali takes a UD 7 rounds to 5. I don't think Bowe would put in the amount of time and dedication during his training camp leading up to this fight. I also feel that if its a close fight down the stretch, Vitali outsmarts him and wins a close fight. As much as I love Bowe, I've always question his discipline and mental toughness.Last edited by Khalid X; 10-06-2009, 11:12 PM.Comment

Bowe is such a shell of himself it's not even funny. Vitali might as well fight muhammed ali if that's the case.Comment

Bowe takes this fight hands down. If this was a prime versus prime battle. The difference is that Bowe's prime was such a small window (92'-94') and Vitali's odd time frame (03'-09' with 4 years missing due to retirement). Bowe was showing signs of being past it during his pre-fight press conference with larry Donald. And by the time he fought Golota he was punch drunk and you couldn't understand what he saying. Bowe could box beautifully behind a jab and unlike anyone else his size he could fight superbly on the inside and throw magnificent combinations from many angles. Vitali is physically strong, with a good chin, and is awkward. Bowe had a good chin too and was no slouch in the strength department. Bowe took a lot of shots while giving even more to his opponents, Vitali never fought that way. I have Bowe pushing Vitali back and beating him along the ropes and sustaining parity when in the middle with his jab squaring off against Vitali's. Prime Bowe beats prime Vitali with relative ease. The truth of the matter is that unlike Vitali, Rid**** Bowe is a former world champion while Vitali is a former and current titlist. In the longrun, Vitali's style and clean living means at the end of the day, he'll remember what he did in the ring and be able to live a normal life outside of it, two things that Bowe won't be blessed with.Comment

Not true, Bowe had his chance to become world champion but started crying and threw his belt in the ring rather than take the fightComment
