Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a huge power broker in horse racing and can be in boxing too. This man is from Dubai. Someone has got to promote boxing bigger matches and he might give the Saudi's some competition. Sadly the USA is all but out of the upper weight boxing ( heavy, cruiser weight, light heavyweight and middle weight ) business in boxing talent and promotional spending. There are no USA fighters at the elite levels or promoters at the elite levels. Don King and Bob Arum are both over 90 years old.

The game's power brokers have moved to the Middle East, an area which produces next to no upper weight fighters. But they sure have a lot of oil money. That is what boxing cares about most.

This post sounds like a commercial to me If he has all that cash tell him to send me a few millions, inflation is getting ridiculous.

Sheikh Mohammed isn’t in the business of losing money so I doubt he’d get involved with boxing. Aside from horse racing which is a massive passion of his, he’s never really branched out into any other sport.

What do you know about horse racing? It an expensive sport and one with low prizes. Your not thinking. Would you rather see a big fight in the adult play pin known as Dubai or boring Saudi Arabia? I know what I would pick.

Oil and gold can't be printed. Hence is is not subject to massive inflation form printed cash and manipulation of currency.

Quite a bit actually, I’ve owned shares in horses for years. It has massive prize money too. The Saudi Cup pays $20m, the Dubai World Cup and the Everest both pay $10m+, the Melbourne Cup, Japan Cup, Breeders Cup, The Arc etc all pay $5m+, there’s A LOT of money to be won in racing and Godolphin win a lot of it.

These boxing events in Saudi don’t make money, it’s sports washing. Dubai doesn’t need to sports wash like Saudi does, people already travel there. People just assume these Arabs are complete morons willing to give away their money. The Saudi boxing/sports investing is part of a far wider strategy.

I’d much rather go Vegas than both tbh.

While the winner of the Saudi Cup gets $10 million and the race in once per year. It is hard to make money in the game, it actually easier in the with the girls horses.

Boxing in Dubai would be another big time event in a big time city is my point. Some Dubai Arab will find figure that out soon enough.

There’s multimillions to be made in horse racing, take Dubai Millennium for example, that was the horse that really put Godolphin on the map, that generated over $4m in prize money in the 90’s! Imagine what that would be worth now.

Do you think those big events in Saudi make a profit? It’s blatant sports washing. Dubai isn’t going to unnecessarily burn millions on boxing. They already have a burgeoning tourist economy.

you can make money owning a racehorse, but it takes patience, luck, and knowledge of the racing industry. However, most racehorse owners don’t make money and use their losses as a tax write-off.
