  • Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia: Focused On Becoming Champion At 140, [Duarte] Was Perfect Person To Come Back Against

Nobody expected Ryan Garcia to remain at the level of his last fight. Still, there was the expectation that the 25-year-old California native would ease his way back into contention after suffering his first pro defeat.

Duarte is a smaller man moving up in weight to fight you. You’re not gonna prove anything with this fight, it’s pointless. You will get no credit. I just hope at least you do this training camp properly and not just train in your car garage hitting the reflex bag. That won’t help you at all. The reflex bag doesn’t hit as hard as a real human puncher

The article says he has been training at Derrick James’ facility in Dallas.

Except for the fact that his opponent is just another lightweight moving up to 140 also.

To make a run at a title at 140, gotta fight guys who are actually in the division. Hard believe anything said by anybody whose whole persona is based off their social media image. If he can actually fight guys his size and look impressive, then there might be some merit to his word. Other than that, it all just seems like more chirping for attention.

I think this was a good pick for KingRy! New trainer, time to get familiar working together! Let's see who has next? Teo or Devin?

I think Ryan has potential. That said, I get a weird sense that he might get brutally stopped in this fight and that he will decide to use his popularity to move into acting or something. He has problems making in ring adjustments and relies on his money shot a bit too much.

Yes, yet another spotpick if a smaller fighter.

Garcia has done too much talking and not enough fighting. He is wasting his career at this stage. Went into the Tank fight with no experience against anyone good and it showed. Hope he gets busy and starts taking smart fights that build his skills

i saw enough in the tank fight to know he wont ever be a world class fighter, he is a world class pad and bag hitter however.. jonny nelson said it about dubois in the build up to the usyk fight and was proved correct, once a quitter always a quitter....does that mean im calling garcia a coward from behind my laptop, no, but these real elite fighters arent wired correctly, they grit their teeth and push on they dont just jack the fight when they lose a few rounds and decide thats it like garcia did against tank... maybe he can beat up a few bums and con his snapchat fans into thinking he is 'the champ' but best off staying away from tank, haney , lopez, people like that, even caterall would give him a good hiding too imo
