Comments Thread For: Hearn Floats Catterall vs. Taylor Rematch at Catchweight: I Don't Think Jack Would Go Up to 147

Promoter Eddie Hearn sees a lot of sense in making a rematch now between Jack Catterall and Josh Taylor. Last Saturday night, Catterall, the 140-pound contender from England, defeated veteran Jorge Linares over 12 rounds at Echo Arena in Liverpool.

No one wants to see Catterall fight anyone at any weight. Catterall appears to be too clueless or too stubborn to do anything to become even a slightly more entertaining fighter.

What’s really the point? I was all for the rematch after Jack got robbed but Catterall’s momentum has completely dwindled and Taylor’s stock has further declined after losing his remaining titles to Teofimo.

I’d much rather see Hearn get Catterall a final eliminator and put himself in position to fight for a world title.

Taylor will probably think 147 is a safe place to avoid fighting Jack again , as a lost would all but finish him . Jack has great competition and top fights at 140 and is talented enough to run with the best of them.

You're right, noone cares about the rematch now. Carter all would be better served by trying to get a title shot at 140 imo.

Completely agree. Sandor Martin is #1 with the WBC, surely you could get him over for a final eliminator. Jack is top 10 with all 4 orgs too so could explore multiple eliminator options.
