The term "undisputed" is nonsense

The term "undisputed", in a boxing context, is nonsense for two main reasons:

1. It's premised on the arbitrary authority of sanctioning bodies.
2. There will always be dispute for a variety of reasons.

Haha. Seriously though, it's usually obvious who the best boxer in a division is so they should be referred to as champion.

nice terms to have beside u but dont really say a whole lot unless you dig deeper in opponents fought & when they were fought etc

Yeah it basically just means there's no dispute between those sanctioning bodies about who the champ is. Wether people think they are the best or deserve to be champion is another matter. Plus there's the lineal aspect.

The funniest example to me is Devin Haney who is 'undisputed' in a division where it couldn't be more disputed over who the best is.

Undisputed sounds cool, but yea its kind of a bs term in boxing when so few top guys fight & the rankings are super sketchy & top talent guys are avoided for longer than lesser talents.

That term was good up until recently with the marketing approach by many fighters (thanks to Floyd).

Now you can say anything you want and pay commentators to say what you want them to say to suit your narrative.
