“They won’t mention that Canelo has now beaten every current champion between 154 and 168 besides Tim Tszyu, Jermall Charlo and Janibek Alimkhanuly. For context, Alvarez offered Jermall Charlo a fight that Charlo declined and Tim Tszyu became a world champion two weeks ago.“

Great point brought up in the Mailbag today. Add to that also that Canelo fought one of the current 175 lb champions too, though he lost. The other 175 champion hasn’t even done that yet.

It’s pretty crazy to think about. The guy has beaten or been in the ring with almost every CURRENT champion in four weight classes. That is about as solid as a resume can get.

No, but he fought the other 3. Canelo fans seem to not understand that other fighters actually have to fight their mandatories or they get stripped.

I respect your opinion on betting, but you are wrong. If both sides are bet equally, the casinos do not break even. They profit from the vig/juice that the bettor pays for his wager. For example,if your bet is made at a minus 10,15,or 20 percent the casino will always profit by that amount after paying the winner. Hope this clarifies your misunderstanding

          Unifications trump mandatories.

Canelo has beat every CURRENT world champion from 154 to 168 except for a newly minted one, and Alimkhanuly, and one who declined an offer to fight. And he moved up to a weight class he doesn’t even belong in (175 lbs) to fight the #1 or #2 guy at the weight. The other 175 lb champion has not even done that in his own weight class yet and probably never will at this point.

Yet it’s Canelo who gets called a cherry picker and a ducker. His haters seem to not understand how insane that is.

Unifications trump Mandatories until the Mandatory gets called. You can't get out of a mandatory defense by saying youre going to unify. Let's not pretend that Hearn wasn't campaigning the WBC to call Callum as mandatory because he wanted the Bivol/Canelo rematch.

And it's a cherry pick to say "Canelo has fought and beat every 154 champion" There's only one of them. And he fought him a couple weeks ago.....at 168 That COULD be why he's called a cherry picker and a ducker. He fought the other 160 champ over a decade ago, and ducked the rematch lol

Would you have still considered 175 "A division he doesn't belong at" If he had fought Badou at 180? Or would we have admitted that Bivol just pushed Canelo's **** in?

Sounds amazing on paper. But it’s not as great if you know the sport and break down the reality of what it is. He fought the unified 154 pound champ at 168 and did so when he was inactive for a close to a year and a half due to an injury. Not to mention he went that route to avoid a threat at 168. He left the mw division when there were still some legit challenges and went to one of the weakest divisions in boxing in 168, especially after Benavidez got stripped. Smith, Yidilgrim, Saunders and Plant all range from mediocre/average to slightly above average. None of them are cracking any top 10 p4p lists.
I come from the era where we were watching Barrera and morales face each other 3x while Barrera also faced hamed plus pac twice, plus Marquez, with morales also facing pac 3x. Or a mix of guys like Oscar, Trinidad, Whitaker, Mosley, Vargas, Hopkins, going at it. On paper, if you look at titles won, it won’t show up as Canelo’s does but it’s significantly more impressive and it’s not even close.

As usual you post a negative comment about Canelo, Did he jilt your Mom ? There's some reason he's living rent free in your head.

You can say that you are going to unify BEFORE a mandatory is called and you are allowed to do so. Let’s not pretend that Beterbiev’s team has any intention of ever making the Bivol fight.

That’s not a cherry pick. It’s a fact. Of the current champions between 154 to 168 Canelo has beaten them all except for Alimkhanuly and Tszyu (both who only became champions within the past year or so) and Jermall who turned down offers on two separate occasions. There was an empty boast once that Golovkin would fight anyone from 154 to 168…but Canelo actually did it.

I said when he fought Kovalev that he really had no business at 175. So yes, I obviously would still consider that. He belongs at cruiser even less but I applaud him considering those weight jumps. It’s ballsy.

I predicted Dmitry Bivol would be a very dangerous fight for him and have no problem admitting he lost. At least he tried. Beterbiev might retire without ever fighting Bivol which is shameful.
