  • Comments Thread For: Benavidez: Andrade Ranked Longer, People Know Him More, Bigger Name Than Morrell

Another undefeated southpaw suspects that David Benavidez is avoiding him as the unbeaten Benavidez prepares for his upcoming fight against Demetrius Andrade. That's fine by Benavidez, who assured doubters during a recent interview with BoxingScene.com that David Morrell Jr. is

At this point of David's career they want to bring in the bigger paydays. Morrell really passes the eyeball test but is not popular and if David beats him they will say that the dude didn't have even 10 fights.

The winner of Benavidez/Andrade should be next for Canelo and the loser can fight Morrell. Any combination of these four fighters will be interesting.

I have to agree with Benavidez's assessment, Morrell has done his career no favors by taking such an anemic approach of 2 fight's a year.
How in the hell does he expect to stay in the minds of the boxing fans, when they don't get to see him fight on a regular basis?
At this point in his career Morrell needs to stay more active, because actions speak louder than words, and he hasn't been producing much action in the ring!

Morell needs a name. Mbilli needs a (better) name. Let 2 contenders fight so the winner gains some downhill momentum.

Morell jr already fought an up and coming prospect. Nobody is throwing another one to him.

Morrell team should offer him Plant. Andrade vs Benavidez loser or really look into doing Morrell Jr vs Berlanga on the undercard of Wilder vs AJ if made. Don't let such a talent who's grasping English well sit idle. Unless dude is in college sharping up his English American history & business (capitalism) there's no reason to delay such a talent. If offering no names give him 3-4 fights a yr then. Morrell Jr has the talent reach & power to be 23-0 20 ko & a 2division champ @ 168/175 by 30. 18 months from now beat Canelo be Canelos successor, looking to do a cruiserweight fight @ the right match say Benavidez trilogy-4x fights if 1 a draw. Benavidez is too flat footed & cutting to much @ 168 i see him losing to Morrell @ 168. A 175 fight is more Benavidez size is a toss up maybe a 1-1 or draw & win yet. Benavidez could go up to cruiserweight & win at least 1 belt he walks around @ 215-220 n is 6'2. If such why not Morrell n him continue the series try for a 3 division champ & make a killer payday.

Benavidez is right about all the reasons Andrade was chosen....but there's one thing he couldn't say: Andrade is the EASIER opponent too. Of course, you wouldn't want to jeopardize those PPV sales. Benavidez was also linked to Munguia, another former 154lber. Let's be real: Benavidez/Andrade should not be headlining a PPV.

Andrade went to decision with Demond Nicholson. Does anyone think Nicholson would've heard the final bell against Morrell?
