Comments Thread For: Eimantas Stanionis Views Mario Barrios as a Solid Future Opponent

At this point, it's almost hard to keep track of Eimantas Stanionis. Through practically no fault of his own, he's been out of sight and out of mind.

So Boots Ennis never signed to PBC, only Showtime, and now Showtime is out of the business! So what does Boots do now? It seems PBC would rather make Stanionis vs. Barrios, rather than Stanionis vs. Ennis, which is a shame! Cameron Dunkin, please make a deal with Al Haymon, and do what's best for your client...ASAP!!!

Eimantas Stanionis vs Keith Thurman and Erislandy Lara vs Danny Garcia planned for December 9th
Eimantas Stanionis, Keith Thurman, Erislandy Lara, and Danny Garcia have all been inactive in 2023
              By Patrick L. Stumberg Oct 18, 2023

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post about Showtime Boxing’s demise, reports of a December 9th show featuring Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia have been swirling for a while. Dan Rafael’s postmortem claims the show will “likely” be a PPV at the MGM Grand and names Eimantas Stanionis and Erislandy Lara as possible foes for “One Time” and “Swift.”

Thurman (30-1, 22 KO) vs Stanionis (14-0, 9 KO) would be a genuinely great matchup. Stanionis deserves a big name after the Vergil Ortiz Jr debacle that’s kept him out of action since April of last year, while Thurman would theoretically be right in the mix for a title shot if he claimed Stanionis’ secondary title.

That said, Thurman has been attached to so many fizzled fights that it’s best not to get excited until and unless they’re actually in the ring together.

Lara (29-3-3, 17 KO) vs Garcia (37-3, 21 KO) has theoretically been in the works since May, when the WBA gave the newly elevated middleweight champ clearance to fight Garcia on August 5th with the expectation that he then face Michael Zerafa within 120 days. Neither of those things happened and none of the parties involved have said a word about it, so who knows what’s happened.

Wonder if they’re still planning a 155-lb catchweight. It’s the WBA thing to do.

Boots, you're AZZ OUT! Either drop Cameron Dunkin, and call Floyd, or demand Dunkin make a deal with Haymon!!! This is A.F.U.!!!

I'm guessing that Hans is 12 years old and wants to prove himself. I skip his articles. ''Hirsute'' ? Really Hans? Keep it simple...

What is the hold-up with getting this guy a fight? All of these fighters sitting on their hands thanks to these promoters.

Build Eimantas hype before he gets smoked by Ennis. Delay that fight unless boots signs with the promotion next year. That's a fight to marinate 2-3 years before cashing out cross promotion it was Vergil Ortiz Job for such to be boots rival m build that sequel to trilogy series fight but Ortiz is @154-160 his actual size so Eimantas job it is to play that rival
