Comments Thread For: Emmanuel Rodriguez, Two-Time IBF Bantamweight Titlist, Announces Retirement At 31

Emmanuel Rodriguez has chosen to go out on his terms. The two-time and reigning IBF bantamweight titlist surprisingly announced his retirement on Tuesday. Puerto Rico's Rodriguez caught many in the industry off guard, including most of his own team who seemed genuinely shocked when he took to social media to reveal the hard decision to walk away from the sport.

Not at all. He probably could have been the guy in the division.

Pretty shocking considering he was on a good run and got robbed against Reymart. He probably has a lingering injury or something don't see any other reason but more power to him, he was one of the better Puerto Rican boxers in recent times and he always came to fight even in his loss against Inoue he at least gave it a shot and didn't fight scared.

He's retiring while on his best run, I just can't see his decision to retire holding up for very long.
Chances are that he'll be making a come back sometime in 2024, I really thought that he was going to start to build a decent championship reign.
There must be something going on behind the scene's in his personal life, that has been the driving force behind his decision to quit.

One of the best at bantamweight, sad to see him go now that there is more opposition for him.

hope things go well for him.

                    This is just a theory...

But ManRod is a big 118 pounder. I think he retired because he knew he needs to move up to 122, but he won't be able to get a belt because Inoue's about to become Undisputed in December. And he just doesn't want that beating again.
