The Battle of The Little Big Men

Even George Armstrong Custer would have enjoyed the upcoming battle between Erik "El Terrible" Morales and Manny "Pac Man" Pacquiao, but this time around, Erik will not be blindsided by a surprise, massive attack, as was General Custer at The Little Big Horn. [details]

This article was as biased a Pac-nuthugger's post. A lot of it didn't sit well with me not because it was a tribute to Rik's skills and accomplishments as I am also a fan but some of the comments that were made seperated this article from objectivity.
I had a small chuckle when he said "I'm not making excuses excuses for Marco, Manny deserved the win, BUT...". Yeah no excuses BUT lol. Anyweyz, he also called Manny a one-dimensionqal fighter who's only weapon is a left hand, which is uderstandable because as Roach pointed out "You're only as good as your last fight". I just can't see how people are able to permantly label a fighter off of one night. After the Barrera win, no one really said anything of the sort. How he actually broke down his oppoennt to the body with TWO fists before taking him out.
He proceded to comparing Pac to Ricardo Mayorga lol anyweyz, and how he threw wild swinging punches when frustrated. How he can speak of Morales as a boxing sharpshooter (which I also believe) and yet leave out the fact that Erik too is drawn to brawls with as much ease boggles my mind.
He also referenced if Pac's chin would hold out and compared him to Roy Jones. Tarver caught him smack on the chin but no Mr. Ortiz, Johnsohn nailed him on the temple. And no matter how great your chin is, a good hit on the temple would give you the spaghetti legs. Well in any case, Marquez and Barerra, guys more than capable of stopping their opponents couldn't do jack with that ever so "fragile" chin of Pac (lol), maybe Morales would have better luck eh? ehheheheheh

Anyweyz, had I not known these fighters and read this article, I would have thought it would be a one sided-beating by Morales on Pacquiao. I don't think Mr. Ortiz is of filipino descent lol

Let them talk man. The real result is just around the corner. Let's see their comments afterwards. Who knows this write up could still make Pacman an underdog!

I thought it was a good article but his point about fragile chins and nerve damage was off. It would be true if Pac man's ko losses had been brutal knockouts but they were not from what i read. It seems more like that he just got exhausted like Ali/Foreman. Ali Ko'd foreman but he didn't damage his chin.

The Torrecampo KO was a wild haymaker that caught Pac flush back when he was 16-17 years old. He wasn't OUT, but yeah he was woozy. The Singsurat knockout was actually a body shot on Pac's dehydrated body. He lost the title at the scales cuz he failed to make weight. From what I hear, kid worked out for 12 hours prior to the fight, took 20 min at the sauna before the first drop of sweat dropped. Still he failed to make weight.

So are you agreeing with me that he doesn't have "chin damage" or do thing that the Torrencampo Ko could still effect him?

I agree with you on that. At that young age I think anybody could get knocked out, specially from a punch you don't see. I DON'T agree when people say that the kid's got a glass chin nor can you hold his one knockout loss as a teenager against him.

I remember in the 3rd round of the Barrera fight, Marco landed a BIG right hand counter while against the ropes, and Pac just walked right through it. Marquez, got him stunned on a couple of occasions but never got him down. His chin's no Hagler, Lamotta nor Chavez but I think it holds it's own and he's shown it against the best that the featherweight has to offer.

And contrary to the article above, concerning naturally weak "chin nerves", I believe with simple neck exercices, natural physcial growth and improvement on seeing incoming punches, all these can help prevent future knockouts.
