Hopkins such an elite messer at that stage of his career - every trick in the book. You couldn't watch him really.

    But 51 years old?

If I can run 5 miles a few times a week I'd be happy.

I missed his middleweight reign really so I cant say I ever enjoyed a Hopkins fight but still what an impressive competitor.

Hopkins vs Trinidad and Hopkins vs Pascal are pretty entertaining

Running 5 miles two or 3 times a week shouldn't be a problem for a 51 year old who is in decent condition, as long as they don't have knee problems. Our hearts and lungs can handle that kind of cardio easily as long as we're fairly fit. Most people are inactive and overindulge in crappy food. Those people would find it difficult to run 5 miles, for sure.

Agreed its the malaise that sets in as much as anything that has an impact on most people.

But at that sort of age you will get loss of muscle function if you sit on your jacksy.

Human beings in general should be able to run huge distances. Ultra marathon runners tend to be in their 40's. Definitely a mindset but also just because we can. We have springy achilles tendons, we sweat to keep us cool and we can keep our head and neck stable when we run and there's loads of other genetic evolutionary I'm sure.

But there is that and boxing like Hopkins did.

I read somewhere that a fit runner can run more miles in a day than a horse.

The greatest long distance runners (at temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit) are sled dogs, who have run 1000+ miles in nine days.

His beatdown of Pavlik was entertaining too. I was there!
