HBO has fallen into the trap of scheduling fighters and not fights. Committing to promoters instead of fans and the interest of the sport.

HBO turned down Froch-Taylor to instead air Dawson-Tarver 2. I like Dawson a lot, but there was no question what the better fight was. They can't commit to fighters like they do, they need promoters to be fighting for dates. That's the only way things will improve.

Pacquiao vs Cotto, Pavlik vs Williams, Dawson vs Johnson II, Andrade vs Bute, Guzman vs Funeka, Clottey vs Quintana, Santos vs Foreman are all very interesting fights from HBO.

Froch vs Dirrell, Taylor vs Abraham, Kessler vs Ward, and Bradley vs Peterson are the only interesting fights that Showtime is going to show. Every other fight is too predictable.

From what I see, Showtime has put more cards, better cards and better undercards with way less money!!!!!

HBO needs to learn something or 2 from Showtime!!
you made it seem like it was a **** load more fights so i fixed it for you. and you just showed me that hbos remaining season is better, much credit to the 2 super 6 events but their oct 23 & 31 cards are weak.

To be fair, HBO goes by who the bigger names are. They go by bigger names cause they want more viewers. Carl Froch was unknown to the US public unless they have Boxingscene or follow boxing like us. Tarver vs Dawson II was the bigger fight on paper, but Taylor vs Froch was the better fight quality-wise.

It's not like Showtime blew them out. Without the super six, that schedule wouldn't be as good.

And where was Showtime in the first half of the year? Throughout the year, HBO dominated showtime.

Sauerland has an excellent card on Oct 17:

                  Abraham vs. Taylor, and

                  Licina vs. Hernandez

                  - an even matchup between two up-and-coming cruiserweights ranked about #12, whoever wins will surely enter the top ten.

                  Dettweiler vs. Oloukun

                  - another even matchup between to up-and-coming heavyweights. Both these guys stay in shape, neither are ever overweight.

ARD in Germany is televising all three, but SHOWTIME is only televising Taylor-Abraham.

there were some other great fights that have been forgotten from Showtime:

                    WARD VS. BUCHANAN

                    DARCHINYAN VS. ARCE

                    Adamek vs. Banks

                    Bradley vs. Holt

                    Gamboa vs. Rojas

                    Spinks vs. Latimore

                    Abregu vs. Garcia

                    Molina vs. Archuleta

                    Agbeko vs. Darchinyan

                    Bradley vs. Campbell

                    Alexander vs. Witter

Showtime has more fights but I'd give the edge to HBO because of Pacquiao vs Cotto and Williams vs Pavlik.
