work towards your strengths...dont let them put you off your gameplan..
Like the jab move **** wouldn't work as well against someone that can move better than you...is more nimble and has more reach... you'd try your jab..and your sidestep...and they'd be three steps ahead of you. Because moving is their strength, and you are playing right into it.
So...put up your guard, let them swarm you a bit... get in close enough for short, devastating shots,, and let loose with hooks and rights to their body. 2-3-2-3..3-2 -3-2 then 1-2 upstairs or 4..(uppercut), but by then they usually are backing up or dancing away.... But after that they will respect you alot more in the ring and you can change the momentum of the fight. They can't move the body as well as the head, so it is a better target for those mover/swarmers. They can't throw all those fancy shots with their ribs cracked/broken either. And guarantee you if you go to the body enough, up top will open up like magic.
i'm sorry but you guys suggest jabbing and moving to deal with swarmers who apply pressure?
swarming and applying pressure is how you deal with jabbers and movers.
It is the best thing that works for me at the gym when I spar swarmers, but I am no boxing master. Still the best tactic is too keep moving keep them off balance and land shots, landing shots is easy because they are right in front of you and easy to hit. That is step A easy to do, but you need some defensive skill to prevent yourself from being hit too cleanly too often.
I fought one of these guys in a "friendly" sparring session the other day and could not keep him off me, he wasnt hurting me but he was landing **** loads while i was too thrown off to land anything in return.
In the end i stopped him by smashing my forehead into his face as he came in.
Use the jab to set up HARD straight punches. Keep moving to your right and firing off the jab then stop, plant your right foot and hit with a big right hand, then move in the opposite direction.
