It's the only workaround at this moment in time I'm afraid.

Best chance of it happening is Bivol signing with TR after his final fight with Matchroom.
It comes down to promotion and having the will to promote it.

Tyson Fury is making more money fighting Ngannou - a fight nobody wants to see - than these two will make in 20 lifetimes. Why? Because there is a promoter and broadcaster actually pushing the promotion of it.

Nobody’s gonna pay for Beterbiev-Bivol, doesn’t really sell in the US, not a big enough fight for the Saudi’s to use as sports washing tool and then you can’t stage it in Russia for obvious reasons.

It’s a shame because it’s an incredible matchup but besides from within the hardcore fanbase, it doesn’t gage that much interest.

Bivol is a proud Russian, living in Russia, and he will not deny he is from Russia to get a shot on shi.tty WBC belt.

The whole ban on Russian athletes seems like a soft ban and the the WBC are aware it makes them seem even more corrupt than people already think they are

So this is Mauricio Sulaiman clarifying the situation and it seems like he won't object. He just wants to save face and avoid bad PR.

However interesting to note that Bivol himself has not approached the WBC, commicated at all with the WBC nor he or his manager have filed an exemption.

The whole situation could easily be fixed bu Bivol's manager seems incompetent (WBC exemption filing and no backup opponent for 2023,) or greedy (Canelo negotiations) and has cost his fighter multiple paydays off the back of a great 2022.

What a useless manager he has.

              It's all here.

Pressure needs to be put on Bivol now

Arum is a non factor. He can be outbid by a rival promoter.
lol easily made. SULEIMAN WILL NOT SANCTION THE FIGHT. HE ALREADY SAID SO.

Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council, has revealed that his organization refused to sanction a potential undisputed fight between unbeaten light heavyweight champions Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

The WBC can not sanction a fight with Bivol in it," Sulaiman told Izquierdazo. “That is because of our position with Russia [and the war with Ukraine]. WBC would not accept that fight."

Yeah Bivol can apply for exception. The fight isn't not happening because of WBC. Its not happening because the money they want is not in it. Bivols own manager this April 2023 said talks started but the money was not there to make that fight.

watch the latest Mauricio Sulaiman interview. He makes his position clear. Bivol HAS to file for an exemption. He has failed to do so.
