Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo: Truthfully, I Could Feel The Difference in The Weight

Junior middleweight champion Jermell Charlo admits that he certainly felt the extra weight in his loss to Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. On Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Charlo suffered the second defeat of his pro career when he was dropped and dominated by Canelo, who retained the undisputed crown at super middleweight.

If Wilder can put on 20lbs of muscle and still put an effort forward, if Mundine could go from 154 to 183 to arguably beat a Cruiser. If Thobela’s 5’6 midget ass could go from 127 to a title at 135 to a title at 168lbs. Charlo could’ve at least tried. Why fighter’s are shtting on him. Guy’s a coward and robbed the people who paid to watch him.

About second fight I’ve really watched of this guy. And both times he shows his timid nature when getting tagged hard, only Canelo is not glass c-lvl bum to fold from Jermell’s odd punch. Anyone looking forward to this guy vs Crawford or the like, is setting themselves up for further dissapointment.

Im surprised For being a professional fighter they WOULDN'T know the weight was going to affect them. Or was it PAY DAY, PAY DAY.

I wouldn't even want him to fight Crawford with that weak ass performance.

I figured Canelo would win, but Charlo would make a fight of it. Nope, I was wrong. At no point was Charlo trying to win the fight.

Agreed. I thought Charlo would come in at 165 lbs and only put on 10 lbs of weight, not 14 lbs. Sh%t he was getting tagged and not fighting back. What the f%%k was he doing in his training camp. I loss a lot of respect for Charlo. I would've respected him more if he loss after putting up the fight of his life rather than laying down and letting Canelo tee off on him on the ropes. Wasted my money buying this fight.

Sounds to me like charlo just came to survive not get ko, collect a BAG & return to 154 history weight class still with most the belts n a justifiable excuse on why you loss. Crawford is licking his chops wanting that 154 fight after such performance **** Spence is as well

2 years to acclimate to 14 lbs of extra weight. There's no excuse.

He went up for the payday.

I think that as a professional, he didn't step in the ring expecting to lose, but as a professional he told himself it was okay once the reality of the task set in.

                    Exactly
With all the sparring and slowly putting the weight on , you certainly feel something and even if you don’t , ffs your trainer has too vision it
                    Just don’t get it
What’s even worse is then they use it as an excuse
Never thought Charlo’s were any good
