From what I remember, he did. The rematch wasn't so competitive though. B-Hop was outboxing Echols in their first bout, Echols was damn strong for a little guy.

Hopkins/Echols is probably Hopkins most competitive bout pre-Taylor. Echols actually caused Hopkins problems at times.

I'm the dumb ass? Read your post. "Echols had a really good chin" Please! He had an average chin at best and everyone knew he could be chinny at times.

"Strong For A Little Guy" WTF does that mean? They were all MW's! Yet Echols was a little guy? That is plain ******.

"K.O." Pavlik"? BAsed on what dumb ass? The 0 times Pavlik has been KO'd in a 36 fight career! Sorry, but I am pretty sure that Miranda is a bigger puncher than Echols ever was!

You are obviously the dumb ass!

              Prime.Echols.had.a.really.good.chin.

              That isn't even debatable.

You do realize that he was KO'd in his pro debut by an 11-13 kid that he outweighed by 2 weight classes.

Then he was stopped in the 10th round against B-Hop, in the rematch. That was his 28th bout. From watching B-Hop vs Echols I and II, I know damn well he wouldn't be the same after that.

I thought he was more competitive the second time around. You're right that Hopkins outboxed him the first time...he did it EASY. I think much of the hype of the first fight was that Echols knocked him down during a break. You'd be hard pressed to find any other highlights for him.

lets not go overboard here guys. the Middleweight division today is just sad, but the one back in Hopkins' days was pretty pathetic too.

Echols wasnt all that great, and he went life and death with an older Brewer, getting dropped 3 times in one round before coming back to surprisingly win. lets not overdo it with his chin.

the only guys I think would 'make waves' in todays division are Trinidad, Keith Holmes and Joppy.
