He doesn't walk around 170 pounds, the night of the fight he weights 170lbs, his walk around is a little higher than 170. Or are you under the impression tjat the night weight is his walk around weight? Or do you think he is not going to gain weight a few weeks aftet the fight? He's 168 now, do you think he's going to weight 170 fight night? Or go back down to his natural 155 pounds?Comment

But that's why your no2 pfp behind inoue. Your a 4 division titilist. Yes it wasn't the strongest version of kovalev, but still 4 divisions. Time for bud to best a weak 154 champ then it's equivalent to nelo.
Bud beats Tim Tszu, then bud can be no2 pfp, even no1 pfp.Last edited by hugh grant; 09-28-2023, 04:44 PM.Comment

Dont be a hater. What a load of nonsense, before bivol took him to school at 175 there was talk about fighting usyk or makabu at a catchweight of 190. There was no issue with the weight beating a faded there for the taking kovalev. This 175 isn't my weightclass talk conveniently started after the bivol fight to take the shine away from his victory by downplaying it "the weight is too much" "i was vegan this camp" why not rematch bivol at 168 if that's the case.
Canelo Kovalev was very very close.
And he looked like trash in 175 in His only two fights in that division.
Roy Jones JR said the same that Canelo Is too small for 175.
You need to be a crazy crazy hater to dont admitt that.Comment

Well if he thinks people are ****** he's right. Yes I'm sure he doesn't beat Kovalev in his prime. Are you one of the ****** people you just referenced? Canelos not a ****ing light heavyweight. He's 5'8 and would give up too much height. Anyone with a brain would know he wouldn't dare fight a prime fighter at 175. That would be ****** as ****. He had a legitimate risk of losing to Kovalev. If Kovalev actually gave a **** he probably wins that fight. And yet another reason why Canelo is unlikeable. He thinks people are ****** (although a large portion of his fan base truly are). We all know Canelo wouldn’t have dared to face a prime version of Kovalev. He faced a version that lost 3 of his last 7 fights and two by ko. Not to mention a 36 year old version that just fought 10 weeks earlier and was almost stopped. Canelo did what he consistently does and that’s assess risk and find the lesser risk option and at the point, Kovalev fit the bill.
He provided an entertaining matchup. He had the advantage because Kovalev was faded and just came from a war. However the entertainment value was the fact that Kovalev was a ****ing light heavyweight and had the ability to knock him out. So who would win? The naturally bigger ko artist who's a shell of himself but just ko'd a young physical specimen, or the undersized p4p boxer who carries power up to 168 but is out of place at 175? Now if he had lost and got brutally stopped everyone would change their tune. And I'm sure there were lots of people who believed he would lose.
A whole thread of morons bringing up the obvious. The funniest is you claiming he takes lesser risk options but his resume is superior to the fighters you guys claims he's ducking and it's not even close. You guys are ****ing pathetic.Comment

So an undefeated 175 lb champion was a cherry-pick? If you are saying that it is a cherry-pick because Canelo thought he could beat Bivol then most fights are a cherry-pick because most professional fighters go into a fight thinking they are going to win. What then are your criteria for a so-called cherry-pick?Comment

Correction: Not that it matters, but Saul started his career at 140Lb limit.Comment

An Olympian who just toyed with the top 3 puncher in the division was a cherry pick. Some of these clowns should just say " I don't watch boxing so I'm not familiar with this guy ". Again this forum is just pathetic sometimes.
