Charlo is a big JMW and was likely having to shrink down to make the weight anyways so moving up to 160 should be no problem for him and was probably coming anyways.
I would think he might even be stronger and more natural at 160 given his height and the amount of time he's been at 154.
Moving up two weight classes from what he's used to is definitely a more difficult proposition. He'll likely look good on the scales at 168 but the main concern for him is whether he can take the punches at that weight class and how much his power translates given he's never fought at 160 let alone 168.

I don't know about that. His walks around weight is likely 175 plus. At 161 he will retain all of his speed but giving up 7 lbs to Canelo, who will be at his ideal weight of 168 probably isn't a great idea. I think James is right saying he should come in around 164, 165.

Jermell fights when he's not injured. Jermall won't fight again until he needs money. Al is not cashing out Jermell. Even with a close decision loss to Canelo, Charlo still has some value at 160 I'm the near future. Canelo by close and disputed decision.

If the fight is even remotely close, no way in Hell Jermell gets a decision. It would be very bad for future boxing business. They tried to fck Bivol, but Bivol banked at least ten legit rounds, so with the Vegas Canelo math, that comes out to seven rounds. Go watch the Canelo-Trout fight.
