Nah UFC has done a lot of work establishing itself on a global level over the last 15 or so years. Before Covid hit they were at a level where about half of their cards were outside of the US. The average global viewership for their cards is probably the highest of any combat sports card most weekends. Its definitely not just a US thing now, look at their roster too.
It’s been pushed but having lived in Latin America the past 3 years Costa Rica, El Salvador and Colombia, all these countries have heavier followings for Boxing. It’s essentially the bar scene in the states flipped.

For example here in California, I couldn’t find a bar showing the Teofimo Lopez fight vs Taylor when a UFC card was being shown.

In Latin America they even had a huge buildup on ESPN knockout.
