Sutherland's having Charlo up 96-93 when he stopped Harrison is a terrible card, Harrison won damn near every round apart from his early knockdown unitl he got stopped.

Idk about a fix, but I did do a spreadsheet awhile back, which I just looked for & couldn't find cuz I got a bad habit of not labeling them, & based upon the obv completely unscientific means of taking the consensus official judges cards & boxrec's fan cards there is a bump Canelo gets by the judges that the fans aren't seeing. Idr the specifics but he had the highest favorability with judges of the 20 or so high level guys I looked into & I believe it was like a 2-2.5 rd bump in his favor from what fans saw. Could just be haters, but generally I think the boxrec scorers are pretty on point & fair.
People can’t point to many examples when I ask that. Other than Golovkin II and Erislandy Lara which were legitimately close fights. That seems to be the full extent of this whole “the judges are in Canelo’s pocket” argument.Comment

What fights has Canelo won that he actually should have lost?

I wasn't talking about that tho. I'm saying looking at the facts I mentioned, official judges cards vs boxrec fan cards, official judges give Canelo more rds than fans watching the fight. Go do the numbers yourself. I did it awhile ago so maybe things have changed but on avg it was about 2-2.5 rds iirc previously. And like I also mentioned maybe there are just haters on Boxrec scoring against Canelo, but generally I've found boxrec judges to make more sense than the official judges.Comment

You know the list ppl talk about as much as me.

And as I said there isn’t many examples of that. Other than the close Golovkin and Lara fights, with some complaining about the close Austin Trout fight too even though Trout got knocked down. That very small list doesn’t justify all the whining and complaining in my opinion.Comment

Judges giving Canelo more rounds than BoxRec fans only matters in the end if that translates into Canelo winning fights that he actually should have lost.

What I did look into is Canelo DOES have a legit edge with judges compared to what fans are seeing. Logically that can led one to believe you gotta beat Canelo more conclusively than you'd need to beat other guys is all I'm suggesting. But specific instances aren't really relevant. Some fights he had more favorable judges, some fights he had less favorable judges, but the overall outcome & avg was Canelo got 2-2.5 more official rds than fans saw him winning. And other belt holders at the time had no edge, a deficit or a lesser edge. Thats all I'm saying, no more, no less.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 09-21-2023, 07:33 AM.Comment
