What are you even talking about lol. If you don't think Hagler & SRL would be doing the same sh^t guys are now & Boots & Benavidez would have been more appreciated sooner in the old days you are insane. The whole shape of boxing has changed in the last several decades. I was 12 when this sh^t happened bro. Wtf did I do to make it the reality lmfao.Comment

And don't worry we are going to a sub model so PPV dies sooner or later. DAZN probably won't be the one who takes things there tho. This is ultimately just boxing hustling the capitalism game to max profit. This ain't got sh^t to do with us whether you buy it or not. Most of these fights are for the casuals not us.
Look at the numbers, this has been going on a long ass time & has drove millions from the sport on a wk to wk basis without switching things up:
1985-1989, 500k PPV's: 3, 1M PPV's: 0, Biggest PPV: SRL vs Lalonde & Tyson vs Spinks 700k
1990-1994, 500k PPV's: 10, 1M PPV's: 3, Biggest PPV: Evander vs Big George 1.4M
1995-1999, 500k PPV's: 13, 1M PPV's: 7, Biggest PPV: Evander vs Mike II 1.9M
2000-2004, 500k PPV's: 6, 1M PPV's: 2, Biggest PPV: Lennox vs Mike 1.9M
2005-2009, 500k PPV's: 8, 1M PPV's: 4, Biggest PPV: Floyd vs ODLH 2.4M
2010-2014, 500k PPV's: 15, 1M PPV's: 9, Biggest PPV: Floyd vs Canelo 2.2M

You're acting like its pre-PPV still or like this hasn't been going on for 4 decades bruh. Where you been at?

SRL vs Donny Lalonde was not a super fight. SRL was hustling fans off of his popularity. There are a ton of other examples. Whats going on now is nothing new to ppl paying attention.Comment

Leonard vs. Lalonde was the rarity back then. Few fights of that caliber were on PPV or CCTV in that era. I saw that fight on CCTV at MSG.Comment

Idk about CCTV back in the day tbf so can't comment on that a lot, but PPV has ALWAYS had a lot of also ran type fights. Michael Nunn vs James Toney (before anyone knew who Toney was) was on PPV. Mercer vs Morrison was PPV. Evander vs 40 somethings, Big George & Larry Holmes were more novelty fights at that time than super fights. These are fights from 30ish yrs ago. You are reimagining what was going on back then I think. Whats happening now is nothing new. You just mighta felt more connected to those guys back then or something idk so those fights felt bigger to you than the fights today, but its been the same story for decades.Comment

Those you refer to were off-the-radar PPVs, not your standard big ones. I remember them. They had no business on any PPV, big or small. There were much better fights back then that were not televised at all. McCallum vs. Jackson in Miami and Gomez vs. Zarate in Puerto Rico were two that come to mind.
All the fights I mentioned were HBO/TVKO PPV's which was the big dog of PPV in those days.
