Comments Thread For: Xander Zayas Scores Two Knockdowns, Stops Bloodied Roberto Valenzuela Jr. In 5th Round

Roberto Valenzuela Jr. was the supposed puncher entering his fight against Xander Zayas on Friday night. It was Zayas, however, that proved to be too strong for the rugged Mexican veteran. The 21-year-old junior middleweight produced two first-round knockdowns, nearly another knockdown in the fourth round and bloodied

Zander looks like one of those characture faces people draw with the mouth being drawn too huge!

Zayas really busted, and bloodied Valenzuela's face up, to get a TKO stoppage in his best outing yet.
Now this is the way that Zayas should be boxing, and applying pressure in all of his future fight's.
The boxing fan's will soon be clamoring for him to be fighting for a title in the 154 pound division.

I don't know I think Valenzuela horrible performance had more to do with his lack of training camp than Zayas who to me still looks very basic and vulnerable.

So if he fought for the title in the near future, It looks like he'd be fighting the winner of the Tszyu vs Mendoza fight.
The question is, can he beat either of those two if they were to fight, the answer is that he could.
He would need that ram rod jab, sturdy chin, and those fast feet he exhibited last night in this fight against Valenzuela.
A lesser version of the fighter that we saw against Valenzuela would probably lose to both Tsyzu, and Mendoza.
That said I think Zayas would be better served if he fought another 2-3 fight's before he fight's for the title, and then he should be a cinch to win it.

This kid could flat out fight, and he brings that Felix "Tito" Trinidad exuberance into the ring.
I believe that Xander Zayas has a very good chance of becoming the next Puerto Rican superstar.
The very next 2-3 fight's will let us know one way, or another which trajectory his career will take.
Also look for him to be moving up to Middleweight within the next 2-3 years.

Lack of a training camp? I thought these were just excuses according to you?
