Im a bit shocked at how calm and collected Mell has been during this Canelo presser. Usually hes always angry loud and obnoxious but now hes calm docile and respectful. Probably doesnt wanna piss Canelo off

Like with most people nowadays, I think this is business. Hope I'm wrong and that he's becoming an adult. I shouldn't forget that change doesn't happen overnight. Stuck in a pro sports bubble, it's like child actors, they often have a hard time adjusting.

          weight gain
          problems at home
twitter beef that leads to nothing
          problems at fights they attend
          drug and alcohol use

You see a lot of this and then the fighters want to blame "mental health". If I were in a boxing commission, I'd tell any fighter claiming mental health that they aren't allowed to fight anymore because if you have problems mentally, getting punched in the face will not help the issues. That would stop a lot of this bs
Like they say, it comes with the territory. Most PBC fighters start very idealistic, how they're going to beat everyone, dominate their division, collect titles, etc. Remember Thurman, as example, and others? But once they get accustomed to the culture and lifestyle of rampant inactivity, they begin to like it, ie, plenty of time to waste time, drive new car with friends, etc. In other words, their bar is lowered. They're content being able to buy shiny gold necklaces, new huge screen TV, new cars, you know short-term material gains, few savings in the bank that only last a year or so. Carlos Adames, for example, at the top of my head, is undergoing the same acculturation process, like not rushing for his next fight like everyone else, and so on...

Look at what what Mell said. He hasn't revealed anything about his Bro's problems to the world except to say that Mall maybe around the wrong people. I'm father to 2 boys &, if it was necessary, I hope one would say to the other that they don't like the crew they're hanging around with. Mell hasn't revealed anything personal bout Mall so TBH I think your comment was inflammatory &, frankly, **** out of order.
I'm a little surprised that Mell spoke to the press at all about his brother's issues. Things can be blown out of proportion when made public. It's a private, family matter, that only Jermall should have the option to make public if he wishes.

PBC is where you go if you want to get paid, not be great.

Beat up clowns in in-house squash matches, get paid, tease giving people the fight they actually want, rinse, repeat.

It's no secret. I used to see Jermall around with his crew and they weren't anybody that you'd think a professional athlete going somewhere in life would be around. Straight up hoodrat trash.

Underappreciated take on whats going on with Mall & lotsa fighters I'd imagine. I don't doubt the pro sports bubble is its own world we have little understanding of.

Randomly this makes me think of the new Tyson Fury reality show that I've been slowly watching over the last week or so. In some of the scenes they show Tyson being looked upon by ppl like a zoo animal & pointing their phones at him recording. That has to be some surreal sh^t even after its happened to someone too numerous times to count. Idk how that reality impacts you, but I'd bet it does.
