I heard that Benitez started training a week before the Leonard fight? Apparently he did the same thing in winning the Welterweight title from Carlos Palomino?

If true, thats amazing. I wonder if winning the title at 17 was a curse instead of a blessing?

Yes, one can only wonder about how great Benitez would have been if he trained properly. He had all the skills any boxer could ask for.

Unfortunately, he had a weak chin, but that doesn't take away from his accomplishments, which are still impressive even today.
