Comments Thread For: Shakur Stevenson vs. Frank Martin Expands Exciting Dimensions

By Cliff Rold - The depth of talent at lightweight, already bleeding into junior welterweight, has been apparent for several years. Before 2023, we were only getting hints of what that depth could mean. Teofimo Lopez's upset of Vasyl Lomachenko was a hint followed by a long layoff and Lopez being stunned by George Kambosos. Devin Haney's twin wins over Kambosos announced the arrival of a champion, but confirmed Kambosos

It's a quality fight, Frank needs to be a lot better than his last fight to have a shot at winning.

This fight is comparable to Timothy Bradley vs Devon Alexander.

I remember being hyped for two young and undefeated fighters at the top of the food chain.

      Glad this is happening.

      May the best man win.

the longer i watch boxing, and its been a long time, the more i realise that most times fighters 'excuses' like bad camps, weight cut, injuries are a real thing and performance really does vary from one fight to another.

Yesterday Ugas said, "that wasn't the Spence I thought" and at the weekend we saw inverse performances. First fight Eubank was likely compromised by the weight cut. 2nd fight Smith even more compromised by injuries and late weight cut.

So which Martin do we get ? The one who beat Rivera or the one from last fight?

"When fights like Stevenson-Martin start getting made, we’re in the space where good fights start forcing great events in the abundance fans most desire and generations start getting defined."

2023 has been a historically good year for boxing! Haters need to stop crying about the ones that are not happening, and give praise due to the fights that are happening! Wilder and Joshua, GET IT DONE IN 2023! That would be the cherry on top!

Always a question when Shakur fights--can Frank Martin catch Shakur then follow up? Big question.

Stevenson will make him look worse. I feel that Martin is slightly overrated.

Shakur feels he is more skilled than Crawford according to his own ranking. This should be a good test to show case his skills.
