This wasn't a joke or a jab. It's an observation. And Leonard Ellerbe talked about it after this situation - about how when you carry yourself a certain way, good things happen. Hearing that quote reminded very closely about this, so it was brought up again.
If you recall, this version of Broner wasn't listening to Stafford. The result is that he took a draw against Jesse Vargas that he shouldn't have, and despite all of his talk since, was never really successful since that falling out.

part. It’s just a rough patch for us all. I just seen Mike a few weeks ago. Didn’t know he was back in the hospital til it was too late so forgive me if I came off harsh.

My brother had a stroke out of nowhere in late January, then died in the first week of February, after doctors told family that he was recovering.

RIP to a respected figure in the sport! I can always remember him yelling, “UnderNEATH!” to Broner from ringside in the Demarco fight! Rest easy, Mr. Stafford!
