      The only form of combat that MMA doesnt have plentiful access to elite talent from is boxing, because of the pay. Other than that there is and always has been guys in MMA that have competed at the highest levels in wrestling, BJJ, judo, kickboxing etc.

      Also, even when guys arent specialists in any one particular area and are true "MMA" guys, I dont know how anyone could look at guys like Volk, Jones, DJ, Fedor etc and not come to the conclusion that they're insanely skilled professional fighters who deserve respect. We arent talking BKFC or Power Slap here.
      A small handfull if any at all. I'm talking about the climate and history in general, not a handful of guys on a good day dude lol. MMA gets more credit than it deserves.
