  • Comments Thread For: Canelo on Crawford: Other Than Spence, I Don't Think He's Beaten Other Great Fighters

Undisputed super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is deep in training for his upcoming defense against Jermell Charlo, who holds the undisputed crown at junior middleweight. Charlo is moving up by two full weight divisions to challenge Canelo on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

    How?

    Midget Gamboa
    Shot Mere Con
    Bum Horn
    Spearman Indongo
    One-eyed Brook
    Retired Porter
    Drained Spence

He is GOAT in my book. Canelo ain't even top 5 ATG.

I used to doubt what Crawford brought to the table, but then I started to watch and analyze most of his fights when he signed on to face Spence. And while I believe Crawford did not face great opponents, I marveled at his skills and abilities to put his opponents away. He did it in style - he has a knockout streak of 10+ going. He finally faced a bonafide great, in Spence, and demolished him. They have a potential rematch, and I'm curious to see how it plays out. But my opinion of Crawford has changed. I truly see him as P4P the best out there currently, when I didn't always feel this way.

I'm confident in that he can beat Charlo, and give Canelo a run for his money.

While one can still point to Crawford's flawed resume of opponents, I don't think anyone in the game can brush him off lightly. He can probably beat them all...Spence (again), Charlo, Canelo....then retire...with nothing else left to prove.

It's simple for Canelo! If Benavidez beats Andrade, fight Benavidez. If Benavidez loses, and Crawford beats Spence again, fight Crawford!

That’s a cool take. But that basically means Canelo is also acknowledging that he also didn’t beat anyone great to become undisputed because the quality of opposition both he and Crawford faced to achieve that status is very similar. What separates Canelo’s career is the name value of guys like Cotto, Mosley, Kovalev and ggg , but they were all 35-40 when he faced them and really deserved to lose 2-3 against ggg. Crawford beating a prime undefeated Spence is a better win than Canelo has had his entire career. So he can belittle Crawford’s resume but his resume is overrated also if you look beyond the name value.

Canelo hasn't beaten any great fighters either.

Ok, so i read the title and sounds like Canelo is hating but then you read the article and of course they are hounding him with questions and asking him point blank if Crawford is the best fighter in the world.... to the guy who was at p4p#1, fighters have huge egos they kind of have to, so what exactly do they think he will say "yeah you guys are right I think crawford surpassed me and hes the best now, he would beat me if we were the same size"

nobody ever says that in boxing, not any of the guys in the top 10, of course he is going to leave room for himself to still be the best.
