In Austria Franz Csandl passed away at the age of 74. Csandl represented his country in the 1972 Olympics in Munich and then turned pro where he challenged twice for the European light middleweight title against future world champions Jose Duran and Eckhard Dagge but came up short. He retired in 1976 with a 23-3 record.
