Comments Thread For: Dubois Admits: I Became Disheartened, Lost Momentum After That Fifth Round

Heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois admits that he was mentally affected by the referee's decision to rule his body shot as a low blow in the fifth round. During the fifth, Dubois connected with a punch that immediately sent Usyk down in pain for several minutes. The referee, Luis Pabon, ruled it as a low blow.

That clear Dubois sledge hammer to the bread basket of the Ukrainian fraud poleaxed him into submission, he knew because of his comical clown personality he could pull the wool over the referee’s eyes and convince him it was low.

Shame the act he put on to the viewing public was worst than Bellew the bellends debut in Creed.

He's really making too much of that low blow. It could have been called either way. Get over it. Look at Fury/Cunningham. He hit and held to win that fight and admitted it. Another day that would and should have been a DQ

Dubois had already hurt Usyk and had the rest of the fight to hurt him again. And he gave up when he got knocked down. Dubois was lucky to even get this fight. He has never beaten anyone in the top-15

I think this fight does show that Usyk will have problems against a big guy who hits hard with a decent chin but Dubois's chin does not look great. Even Joshua took bigger shots. Also Usyk is starting to look old now

Woe is me.... whether it was on the belt or not that's no excuse for losing every other round and quitting against someone half his size

With no hate whatsoever, I genuinely respect what comes across as his actual honesty because that is one embarrassing thing to publicly admit.

If he would have applied more pressure after the controversial shot, he may have gotten Usyk out of there; he was clearly hurt and rattled for the remainder of the round and partway into the sixth. Instead, he quit and swallowed a few jabs along the way.

I don’t like it when there’s indecipherable controversy like this; puts a stain on an otherwise decent scrap. I will give Dubois credit: he showed promise up to that shot.
