  • Comments Thread For: Navarrete: I'm Proud That I've Become An Iconic Mexican Boxer In My Own Right

GLENDALE, Arizona -- Not even in the presence of Mexican boxing royalty was Emanuel Navarrete concerned about living up to exceedingly high expectations. That's because he always understood his role.

He doesn't have to match his country men. He is doing well with what works for him. He is always in an entertaining fight and his awkward style always makes things interesting.

Mexico has had many great fighters--it's hard to put Chavez at #1 and say others like Finito Marquez Barrera Olivares Zarate Sanchez etc. are below Julio. They are all greats.

He’s on a 30fight win streak. He deserves to be on P4P list

Navarette should Unify before moving up. To bad all the other Champs are with different promoters and arent big enough for Bob to consider. I think its a bad idea for Navarette to move up to fight Shakur.

You've been the favorite in every fight doe. You need to step it up and go for the top dogs.
You've been around for so long and you can't always be just above Valdez level.

Navarrete is really something else. The guy makes so many mistakes but he's so awkward and throws so many punches at funny angles coming forward that it's no surprise that he's a nightmare to fight. I'm looking forward to whatever he does next. He's one of the most exciting fighters in the modern era.

It's easy to say that after he busted up Valdez. Give it a break rick. He's doing fine. A lot of people thought Valdez's skill level and counter punching would be too much for Navarrete. He's world champion in 3 weight classes at 28 years old. Some people are never satisfied. Who's your favourite fighter btw? I hope it's not Haney or some other boring over hyped fighter.

Navarrette is an animal. I thought Valdez would give him a lot more trouble. I don't even think Navarrete had a mark on his face at the end. He's a machine. He has a very unsuspecting style that you think any counter puncher would have a field day exploiting, yet he never makes it easy for them to. Unrelenting pressure and punches from such awkward angles. He throws the greatest wide uppercuts I think I've ever seen and they work for him. Fighters don't train in the gym to prepare for such madness, lol.

I am pretty sure everywhere in Vegas had Valdez as the betting favorite. You could argue that the real fans knew better, but that seems like a 'True Scott Fallacy'
