Comments Thread For: Jermell Charlo On Long Layoff Entering Canelo Fight: I Don't Give No Excuses; I'm Coming To Win

NEW YORK - Whatever happens the night of September 30, Jermell Charlo won't use his long layoff, hand injury or anything else as an excuse after his fight with Canelo Alvarez.

That's good, "don't give no excuses" before the fight, and more importantly, don't give any excuses after the fight either!.

Can't blame Charlo for taking the payday although moving up in weight won't be easy against Canelo. This may actually be a pretty good fight. Charlo is not going to lay down!

I thought the same thing about the weight, but Charlo was the bigger dude at the press conference. Though how he performs at the higher weight is a different matter. Will his punch resistance go up or down? Will his power carry? Will it even matter? Canelo's got an iron chin.

While I no doubt feel this is Charlo collecting the biggest paycheck opportunity of his career. The kind you cannot say no to. I just don't think he's as skillful as Canelo to give Canelo much trouble. I'm not sure Canelo stops him however. It probably will be a UD for Canelo, just based off activity and I believe he will land the better eye catching shots.

I believe the fight will go one of 2 ways:
              1. Charlo is so fast that he can pot shot and move around enough to see himself get robbed on the scorecard.
              2. Charlo dances with Canelo trying to ****, and gets put down like a 20 year old dog at the vet.

I just feel like if he does enough to win, he’ll still get robbed, unfortunately.

If Charlo wins this fight (and I don't give a sht if one organization drops him) he will still be an undisputed 154 and 168 pound fighter at the same time because he would have beaten all the title holders at 154 and beaten the one holding all the 168 belts. The WBO should have waited at least till after the Canelo fight to potentially strip him but fk them. It's a tall order but if he wins, he is in the top 5-6 PFP.

Let's hope if it does go the distance that the judges are on the up and up. I doubt it!
