  • Comments Thread For: Crawford: I Don't Think [Spence] Should Retire; He Should Take A Little Time Off, Get Mind Right

Terence Crawford disagrees with those that have suggested Errol Spence Jr. should retire. Crawford dropped Spence three times and dominated his rival on his way to a career-defining, ninth-round, technical-knockout victory July 29 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Factions of fans and media have since expressed concern for Spence's long-term health because Crawford battered him for much of their welterweight title unification bout, but Crawford believes Spence can recover and become a formidable fighter again.

154 is brutal for very little pay. See Danny skipping around and still hasn't fought anyone. Lubin beats Spence.

Of course Bud wants Spence to keep fighting. What's a more lucrative and easy way for him to test the waters at 154lbs?

Bud has been at 147 since 2018, so why is it easier for Bud to make 147 than it is for Errol? How many of u can get down to 147 lbs at age 35? Errol isn't the only one with these issues. When Errol was making all his opponents look like Rocky Dennis, nobody brought up his trouble making weight. Errol praised his nutritionist for keeping him strong and how he makes weight with no problem. Errol himself said if a car crash couldn't break him, no man could hurt him. In pre-fight press conference, Errol said he's going to show his conditioning, stamina, defense, and his ability to make adjustments. And he promised several times to make a war like the kind we saw in Leonard vs. Hearns, a throwback fight. He promised that from the 1st bell to whenever the fight ended, he would be in Bud's face. His coach even got in shape for this fight, and he said Bud will decide how long the fight goes once his bones start breaking, its all up to him. He said Bud's mama better not bring her dancing shoes. So from their own words, they seemed confident about bringing a war to Bud and breaking his will. They wouldn't have said all that, if Errol wasn't in tremendous shape. They were both hyped up, stretching, bending and twisting in the ring during the fighter introduction. They believed in their plan right up until Bud started touching Errol and then shoved him back in rd. 2, then shortly after when he dropped Errol, that's the 1st time they realized they had problems. But now after the fight, ppl say the weight was an issue? The issue was Bud. Errol just met the best boxer he ever faced, that's all there is to it

Great post. Spence looked a little dry at the weigh in. He looked hydrated and strong fight night. He hit Bud with some good shots too. If you look at Spence in his previous fights over the last few years, he didn't look any different. The problem was, and Arum hit the nail on the head, is that Crawford never fight southpaws, and Bud is a natural righty who fights just as well southaw. His right jab is right cross or hook when it's stiff.

Errol knows his fundamentals, has a a great jab. The difference was, where he usually walks guys down, Bud was just as strong and that jab stopped him in his tracks. After the first knockdiwn, Spence put up a helluva fight. He was just lost, because no one had ever bullied him before. Crawford is a special talent and mentally he is top 5 all time IMO. Cold, calculated, calm and just see exactly where he needs to go and what to do. If he retires before age catches up, no one at 147 or 154 beats him. Not Boots, not Charlo, not Tyszu.

Crawford will always live in Spence head. you don't get a beating like that and totally outclassed and that not weigh heavily on you in preparation and on fight night
