The kid is 19. Yes, back in the day fighters were thrown into the fire pretty young. The kid will make a name for himself and fight the top dogs in a few years. Tank Davis is 30 years old and has still been cherry picking. Hopefully Cruz gets the rematch. Cruz was the cherry pick that went wrong. If he wants to aspire to be like his old man then he will fight everyone soon enough.

Fighting a 3-6-1 fighter isn't going to do ANYTHING to help him develop! And furthermore, it is risking a bad outcome where the opponent could be seriously hurt due to a HUGE mismatch.

But HUGE mismatches lead to the opponent being seriously injured! Not need for this crap. He can fight someone better than a hapless, helpless setup fighter with a 3-6-1 record! That fight was a disgrace!

In all other Pro Sports, Athletes dont turn pro until theyre 22-23yo (unless theyre extremely Elite). But In boxing you get guys turning Pro at 17 then their spoon fed for years. I really dont see the devolopment they get fighting tomato cans for years when they can fight better Comp in the Amatuers during those years.
