Wladimir actually went out of his way to meet Haye. He rescheduled other fights, after Haye burst into the HW scene with a loud mouth and bad T-shirts. Wlad organized the biggest boxing show of the decade in Gelsenkirchen, and sold 57K tickets.

Then Setanta, Haye's main cash cow, died, and Haye pulled out of the fight with an unproven back (or hand?) injury. I don't know if he tried to talk to K2 about money again. I think Wlad would have given him a share of the TV or gate money to make the fight happen. But it was just "back injury, might heal in X weeks, please delay fight".

To delay a fight with 57K tickets sold is difficult, especially if the stadion is needed on later weekends (i.e. soccer). And, if you saw Wlad's face when got the news about Haye's injury, you knew he WANTED the fight.

And the Germans wanted to see Wladimir. When Haye pulled out, very few tickets were returned.

So, Wlad asked Valuev and then Chagaev, both solid choices. And sold the remaining 3,000 tickets.

The K brothers offered Haye the very same contract for Vitali. After some negotiations, Haye did not sign it, he preferred Valuev. Maybe the contract was not too good for Haye (unsolved TV-shares for Haye?), but still the offer to fight one of the top dogs was there.

IF Haye feels so strong that he will clear up the HW division, then why didn't he take the fight? If he was so confident, he would have no qualms about fighting the Klitschkos 2-3 times. After a first win, he will draw many people to the screen in UK and US, and has good chances to get a share on that money.

Haye says "the contracts were shackles & chains, not fair" - it even may have a true background. But when you think back to the time of negotiation in January/February, there were some notes "Haye is difficult to deal a contract with" and the like. It postponed the fight for months. Chambers and Arreola are not that fussy about the contracts with the K2 promoters.

So I can understand that the K brothers are p***ed at the moment. They will fight him, when (if) he retires Valuev, and establishes a name. And possibly wears another lousy T-shirt.

I think he's a chicken**** coward, and I'm ashamed that I was actually starting to come around to being a fan of his in the first place.
