You don't go from fighting C+ and B- level boxers to the PFP number 1 or 2.

Ennis could be the guy some day but right now it's suicide.

Crawford was elevated to #1 after beating Jeff Horn.
Brook was fresh off struggling against a no-name before he faced Crawford.

People thought Teo wasn't ready for Loma and look how that turned out. I think Crawford sees this kids potential and doesn't want to risk it. If you're really that dude just beat Boots then move on to Charlo.

As expected, ignore the facts I listed and stay the course with your unadulterated toxic vitriol but but but ….
At this point in Boots career, how is he any different when compared to Crawford at the same exact age?
They are practically the same. The difference is Crawford at 26 years old did get a shot at Ricky Burns.

And if they actually fight and Ennis beats him, casuals will accuse him of “waiting for Bud to get old”.
            It’s a no win situation.

I mean what do people expect? Boots needs that kind of confidence.

I don't think he beats Bud right now, but if Bud stays at 147, the fight will happen. If the Spence rematch doesn't happen, could be soon. Bud has to wait until Charlo fights Canelo before he moves up. And maybe Canelo destroys Charlo, that takes the shine off the Crawford-Charlo fight.

It all has to play out for a few months. I am fine with Boots saying he wants the fight.

Dude, Oregonian, we get it. Boots will beat Bud up and send him into retirement and the thought of it not happening has you panicking. LOL.

Calm down. I just hope if the fight is made and Bud stops him, you finally relax a bit. I am thinking maybe you define a "casual" as someone who isn't so invested in seeing Bud beat that it makes us sick. Sheesh.

Okay, as usual there are a lot of polarized opinions here about Jaron Ennis.

I’m going to make this statement: “Jaron Ennis has the best chance of beating Bud, compared to anybody else at 147”.

Is there anybody who would disagree with that statement? If so, why?

At no time in any of my posts have I suggested Boots will beat Bud.
All my responses to those casuals are based on ONE thing only - they keep saying Boots is not ready or Boots needs to fight a “live body” or Boots need to fight some new Boogeyman to “prove” he belongs.

They have no qualms Bud fighting Avanesyan or Kavaliauskas but react with outright hostility to Boots.

Boots is the highest ranked contender at WW. That’s all I’m saying. If he gets beat up by Bud so be it. At least he got his shot just like the others.

I agree with you, in fact, I'll go one further and say that he beats Crawford. Crawford is a superior fighter but people are putting too much emphasis on his win over Spence. Crawford's win over Spence, an elite fighter, was too easy, which tells me that something wasn't right with Spence. Spence may never beat him because he doesn't have the movement or speed to deal with Crawford, but Ennis is a different animal. I, personally, have never seen a fighter with his skillset, except maybe a younger Ali. Shakur and a younger Loma is a close second. If Spence does not exercise his rematch clause, and Bud fights someone other than Boots, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Bud don't want that smoke.
