I was drawing comparisons from what I saw last night it turns out that Rid**** Bowe and Spence had similar qualities to their game and history
- Both were pressure fighters that always tried to maul on the inside
- Both were the big men of their division using their size and strength to bully around smaller men in dogfights
- Both were cumulative attrition punchers not known for having the snap of their rivals (Lewis)
- Both depended on their jab to set up their whole game plan and were neutralized when it was taken away (Holy 2, Golota, early Biggs rounds)
- Both had problems outside the gym with making bad lifestyle choices while their rivals always stayed disciplined
- Both were showing deterioration in their speech and their reaction time in general in and out of the ring while still being "young"
- Both were made helpless in the blink of an eye fighting someone who they couldn't bully and who had the reach advantage
- Both took terrible beatings at the tail ends of their careers while doing aggressive water cuts that took all the snap from their punches/
And of course almost everyone considered Bowe shot to **** when he fought Golota, and hardly anyone has ever rated on Golota on Bowe's level despite beating him punchdrunk. Now factor in that Bowe was younger than Spence, never had multiple car crashes, was not an alcoholic, and he was very active throughout his career.
If an INFERIOR fighter like Golota can put a horrific beating on a great like Bowe given the right circumstances, is it a shock that a SUPERIOR fighter like Crawford can put a horrific beating on a really good fighter whose circumstances are even worse. Are people really calling Bowe a bum for losing to someone people actually thought was a bum? He took an even worse beating than Spence against a much worse fighter P4P than Crawford. However I sure hope Spence doesn't end up like Bowe did in the end.
